We are most grateful for the donations we received in December.  Our budget is greatly stretched this year with the new requirement to supply needed materials for students that we used to ask students to bring to school.  Other increased costs have also been a burden on our budget this year.  We appreciate the support we receive from donations.  If any family is interested in donating money to support the schools in any amount, we are grateful.  We typically asked for a donation of $400 per student, but we would be pleased with any consideration.

Flu season is upon us and I know that many of our students and some staff have been quite ill.  We appreciate having parents request homework and missed work and coming in to pick it up at the end of the day.  When students are absent, it is difficult to catch up and get back on track.  Getting the work and having students do it at home helps.

Primary Charter

Initial Phase had a seamless transition back from Winter Break!  We were very impressed with all the smiling faces and eagerness to get back into learning!  Next week we will celebrate the 100th day of school and each room has many fun and interesting activities planned.  We cannot wait!

It was a great first week back to school for Phase 1 students! They jumped right back into learning.  Many students started new books in Language Arts and are working hard toward their AR goal.  Students are enjoying the Math Challenges that Mrs. Stewart prepares for them.  It’s amazing to see their critical thinking skills.  The students talked about New Year Resolutions and setting personal goals.  In Science we are learning all about the seasons, types of weather, and weather instruments.  We have some great future meteorologists!!  Please make sure to send your student to school with a warm jacket.  Outside lunch and recess can be chilly!

Phase 2 students came back from break rested and ready to learn!  We are working on persuasive writing this week and talked about New Year’s Resolutions.  We have started science and our students are already excited about our future experiments.  We discussed the scientific method and see some future scientists in our classes!

We will soon be using agendas to communicate with parents.  Students will write in their daily behavior and important dates and announcements.  If a student gets on warning or yellow, their agenda must be signed and retuned the next day.  Students who stay on green do not need their agenda signed.  We will also still be using green folders to track behavior.  Please be on the lookout for our new agenda policy to start soon.
