Whoever says the end of the school year is boring has not looked at what happened this week in our 3-4 Primary Charter Classes. Children from both rooms equaling 132 children played an active imaginary game of GOLD RUSH.
Room Three was on today while Room 6 had theirs on Wednesday. The rain on Wednesday did not dampen the spirit at all. They had a jail for the bank and gold robbers, children making crafts, stores for sustainable food, children making horseshoes, the Pony Express came by quite quickly and many children mining for gold. Skits were also part of the plan. Of course the amount of Gold they were finding helped them do some playful gambling, and buying nice extras like chocolate. It was totally interactive and totally full of excitement. The children probably did not even notice adults were watching.
The PE, art and music program is pleased to announce the 1st Annual Jog-a-thon raised $15,683.65! Our goal was $5,000 and we tripled that! We are so proud of how hard our students worked to complete laps and raise money. We are excited to purchase new recess equipment, PE equipment, music equipment and art supplies!

The picture below are our raffle prize winners. Prizes were $10 coldstone gift cards, $5 menchies, subway, Jamba Juice and baskin robins giftcards, kangazoom passes, water bottles, soccer ball, football and playground balls.
Overall this fundraiser was a huge success. We want to thank all the students, parents, family, friends, and sponsors for all their donations and support. Everyone did such a fantastic job that all students will have a Popsicle party and P3 who raised the most as a class will have an ice cream Sunday party next Friday! Thank you all again, we look forward to next year!
Every year we have to throw away so many expensive prescriptions because parents fail to pick them up in the office prior to Summer Break. Please come and pick up your child’s meds ASAP so we won’t have to destroy them.
Mrs. King’s Retirement

Mrs. Leslie King is retiring this year after an amazing commitment to teaching so many students.

PCS – 12:00 noon
DCS – 11:30 am
MHS – 12:30 pm
Lunch will NOT be served this day.
Dismissal times are staggered to help with car-line traffic.

Initial Phase would like to thank all parent volunteers for their continued support throughout the school year. We would also like to all parents who do what they can when they can. Every little bit helps. It is parents, such as yourselves, that help to make our classrooms great! This morning’s Unity was wonderful, our student council did a great job! All of the students were thrilled to see so many parents and to share their volunteer gifts. Thank you again and have a wonderful weekend!
This week was an exciting week in Phase one! On Tuesday, we went on our last field trip of the school year to the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, where the students were able to explore and learn a ton! They had a blast! Ask your child what their favorite part was. Thank you to all the parent chaperones that went with us. We greatly appreciate all your help. Both classes also had the opportunity to learn about the gold rush from our very own third and
fourth grade classrooms! The students from those classrooms were dressed up in costumes and had stations set up depicting what life was like during the gold rush. We had a blast and really enjoyed learning from other students. P3 and P6 did an amazing job presenting all that they had learned about the gold rush. P8 also had their music
performance on Thursday and they did such an amazing job. Mrs. Watson was so proud of them and so were the teachers! This week we also found out the grand total that was raised from our jog-a-thon and it was over $15,000! Great job! Jayme from P1 raised the most and Kaylah from P8 was the runner up. Our top first grade joggers were Ava from P8 and
Robert from P1. Our Top second grade joggers were Gwen and Lucas C., who are both from P8. There were also some amazing prizes given away. Congratulations to all the winners!
Phase 2 students had an exciting week! Each class got to present their gold rush town to the first and second graders and it was such a fun experience for all! They did such an awesome job and we are proud of their creativity and hard work! Thank you to the parents who donated supplies to make this possible. This was definitely the highlight of the trimester!
P6 had their music performance this week and they sounded amazing! We have such a talented group of students and they have learned so much in music this year, thanks to the wonderful Mrs. Watson.
Wednesday is the Phase 2 field trip to Columbia. All chaperones have been notified. Students need to be here no later than 7:45, as we need to be on the bus by 8:00. Students should wear comfortable walking shoes and need to bring a bagged lunch. We can’t wait to see an old fashioned gold mining town!
Wow! What a week in P3! Students have worked so hard to complete their gold rush town “Gold Camp Rosepinwood”. They did such an amazing job and we are so proud of their hard work and their excellent presentations! Thank you to all the parents that came to visit our gold rush town. We also wanted to thank all of the following parent volunteers for all their amazing help this year. We greatly appreciate you!! TDAP Vaccine – Currently, we still have about 40 students who have not turned in their TDAPs
A required by California law (Health and Safety Code 120325 – 120375), parents need to provide proof of a Tdap vaccine. All students entering 7th – 12th grades in the coming school year must have proof of a Tdap booster shot. Documentation must state the shot was given on or after their 7th birthday. This means ALL current 6th – 11th graders must get up to date NOW.
It is important that you begin now, to ensure your child get their vaccination and to avoid appointment delays.
Getting them up to date now, will not only protect them against Pertussis but also ensure class placement and prevent exclusion from school this school in the coming year.
Remember to ask your physician about other vaccines your child may need, and bring your child’s yellow immunization card to the visit. Please return a copy of ALL up to date immunizations to school prior to the beginning of the next year school year.
Here at PHSA our year is quickly coming to an end, only two weeks left. Our 8th graders are becoming very anxious and excited as their final year as middle schoolers comes to an end and they prepare to embrace their new identity as high schoolers. With this in mind, if you are the parent of an 8th grader, please remind them to be sure to turn in their money and required paperwork in order for them to participate in Cosmic bowling on 6/19 and Great America on 6/26 to Mrs. King
The 7th graders still need donations and parent volunteers for the last day of school. If you are interested in volunteering or donating please make sure you sign and return the slips that went home with all 7th graders to Mrs. Saldana by Tuesday 6/16.

MHS Charter Chatter June 12, 2015
The first semester of Fast Track ended on Wednesday, June 10th. We are now in the second semester. Report cards for the first semester were mailed home today. Please be on the lookout for them. Inside the report card you will also find the emergency contact form that needs to be returned to receive your child’s schedule. Schedules will be distributed the week of June 22nd.
Delta College Info
College Early Start forms for the Fall Semester are due by Friday, June 19th. Please remember that for students to be approved to enroll in college classes while in high school, students must successfully meet deadlines, follow instructions for applying, and have a good current academic record of 3.0 or better. For more information, parents can visit the Counseling/Guidance home page of the www.tracylc.net and click on College Early Start link on the left side of the screen.
Students seeking tuition reimbursement from Spring semester classes should be turning in their reimbursement request form with proof of grade and payment for Delta College classes attended. Forms can be downloaded from the Counseling website at www.tracylc.net
Fast Track will run until Friday, June 26th. We will continue to begin each morning with Unity at 7:55am with classes ending at 12:30pm. Just a friendly reminder that daily on time attendance is crucial during Fast Track.
***Attendance Policy reminder: Due to the accelerated nature of classes, each day that is missed is equal to one entire week of school. The maximum number of days allowed for absence during Fast Track is two days before resulting in a failing grade for the class. Also, four tardies equal one day of absence. Any combination of tardies or absences of more than 2 days will result in an automatic failing grade regardless of the reason. For this reason, please make sure your student comes to school daily and on time. We appreciate your support in promoting the importance of attendance and punctuality with your child.
Fast Track is also a great time for students to complete community service hours. The deadline to turn hours in for the 2014-2015 school year is the last day of Fast Track, Friday, June 26th. Any hours volunteered after Fast Track will need to be turned in when the regular school year resumes
Grand Foundation Opportunity– The Grand Foundation is a non-profit partner of the Grand Theatre has an ongoing community service opportunity that needs to be filled immediately. Job duties include typing accuracy for data entry, research to collect data from the Internet, telephone and other miscellaneous office work. Students who are interested in marketing, promoting, advertising and communication through social media are ideal. Time needed is a minimum of 4 hours per week but not to exceed 8 hours per week. Please contact Ms. Arganbright in the counseling office for more information.
Tracy Historical Museum Tracy Press Photo Project– The Tracy Historical Museum has an ongoing community service opportunity. This project is ideal for any student who is interested in photography, digital artwork, computers and tech. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented and must be able to commit to volunteering on an ongoing basis. The project will included converting negative film into digital files, cataloging the photos, color correcting and digitally editing photos in photoshop. No experience necessary. All volunteers will be taught how to use the equipment and programs. If interested please contact Ms. Arganbright in the counseling office or stop by the Tracy Historical Museum on Saturday.
T & J Tutoring
