Today marks the last official word from the Chatter until the start of the new school year.  We are very pleased with this school year and feel very fortunate to have the wonderful families and students we have in our schools.


Our schools from our new Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten to Primary, Discovery and Millennium all feel very proud of the excellent performance of our students.  We appreciate the support of the parents as we work with the students to achieve excellence.

In a recent essay written by our DCS students about why they appreciated our school, they said that they appreciated the great lunches, the dedicated teachers, the wonderful custodians who cleaned the campus so well, and the fact that they had the opportunity to learn in groups that were focused at the right level of instruction.  They appreciated that students are challenged but not overwhelmed and that everyone can succeed.

One student ended the essay by saying, “Never judge a book by the cover.  Our building may not be the best, but the pride inside is incredible.”

Misc. Announcements



The office has a huge amount of prescribed and over the counter medications that must be picked up prior to the end of the school year. All remaining medications will be destroyed.

Please come and pick your child’s meds up as soon as possible.

We cannot believe how fast this year has gone by!  Thank you to everyone who came to our year end celebration on Thursday night. We appreciate how involved and supportive you have been throughout the year. We hope you have a wonderful summer break. Good luck next year in Kindergarten, we know the students are ready and will be successful!

Primary Charter

Initial Phase

This week in Initial Phase, students worked hard finishing up end of year assessments and preparing for Evening of Excellence. We were so impressed with the participation from P-6 families during Evening of Excellence. It was a fun event.
This year has been full of many firsts. Our first year of the new kindergarten program, the first year with 66 students, and the first year this team has worked together. We can proudly say that this year of firsts has been a success! Our team and students rose to the challenge and flourished! All of our students are leaving us more than ready for first grade. We have worked hard preparing for the transition and we know that the Phase One teachers will be so impressed. See you August 1st!

Phase One

What a fun filled and exciting week Phase 1 students had!  Evening of Excellence was fantastic and it was great seeing so many proud parents seeing their student’s work.  What a great turnout.  The students worked so hard to complete and present their projects.  The students also enjoyed an awesome time at the Multi-cultural Fair.  They got to learn about and experience so many new cultures.  Next week will be the last week of school and there are still many fun activities planned.  On Wednesday, Phase 1 students will dig up their time capsule and have a picnic lunch on the field.  On Thursday will be our Water Day filled with many fun activities and treats.  On Friday we will have a fun day getting ready for our summer break and saying goodbye to friends and teachers.  Every day at unity we will have an award ceremony celebrating different student accomplishments.  Look for information to come home in the Green Folders.  Have a safe, fun, and relaxing vacation!  Report cards and back to school information will be mailed home soon.


Phase Two

Evening of Excellence offers a great opportunity to reflect on another successful school year!  Thank you to all who were able to come and visit us.  We are so proud of the growth our Phase Two students have made.  The depth of knowledge they have acquired along with the character traits of all 4 of our SWO’s have led to third graders ready to take on the challenge of becoming leaders next year and fourth graders ready to embark on the journey into Discovery!  We are so excited for them!

Thank you, MHS for another amazing multicultural fair!  The crafts, food, and activities were great.  We appreciate all the hard work that went into putting the fantastic event together.  Thank you!!!!




Discovery Charter


TDAP Vaccine

Just a reminder it is the law that all incoming 7th graders provide proof of receiving his/her TDAP Vaccine. Please get a jump on this and take your 6th grader in ASAP for this mandatory vaccine.


This will be our final DCS Charter Chatter for the year.  We know our 6th grade students are prepared to move onto DHSP, our 5th grade students will become our role models for the incoming 4th graders, and the incoming 4th graders are excited to join DCS.

As we reflect on the year, we all agree this year is a year of many firsts. We had our first year of dens and den points.  Dens proved to be a positive motivator in terms of behavior, grades, and team building.  We had our first den rallies where super proud students rallied against one-another and cheered on their teachers who competed against one another to earn points for their dens.  We had our first annual Jog-A-Thon where students took pride in their running of laps and in their fund raising abilities.  We held our first annual 6th Grade Breakfast where 6th grade students and their families enjoyed food, entertainment, and celebrated 6th grade students, and their superb year of firsts.  Our first annual Awards Ceremony was held on Friday.  Students received medals, trophies, certificates, and gift certificates.  Awards were given for highest den points, academics, dedication, and perfect attendance. We had our first graduate walk, where Millennium graduates returned to talk to DCS and DHSP students about their time in Millennium; they celebrated their year of firsts as well, to include the first time that 100% of Millennium students were accepted to colleges.

As we reflect on our year of many firsts, we want to take time to thank the parents who help make these firsts possible.  The support we receive is appreciated.

We are pleased to announce our entire team of teachers will return next year.  Over our break, we will meet to plan lessons, review student needs, and prepare for August 1st when we will welcome you child(ren) back to school.  If you have any questions over summer break, please feel free to email, email will be checked regularly.


SWO INTERVIEWS WERE A SUCCESS!!!! Discovery Students were ON FIRE – their interviews were exceptional.  As we interviewed students, they remained poised, self-assured, and exceptionally prepared. We would like to thank the parents for supporting our year-long SWO project.  Your time, patience, and efforts are appreciated.  SWO’s are a large part of teaching students about themselves, their strengths, their and passions.  SWO’s reiterate the importance of being true to oneself, working with others, giving to others, and taking pride in all one does.  Keep the Scrapbooks.  SWO’s are a part of student work through Millennium.  They will be very helpful as students apply to colleges.





Dens are still going strong.  Points are working well for our students.  Overall their daily behavior is excellent, and they take pride in their points….our Bengals are in first place overall!! Congratulations to all dens and many thanks to our motivating den leaders. You are an inspiration to everyone.


                      DHSP Charter Chatter:


What a fantastic year it has been in DHSP!!!!

Thinking back to the first month of school in August with Back to School night, the beginning of Den points and Saturday school, the end of PHSA and the beginning of DHSP what changes, WOW!!


There have been lots of dance performances, art exhibits, Building the float was interesting, to say the least. And the academic competitions…..Math Counts, Math Olympiad, Spelling Bee, Science Olympiad, and Academic Pentathlon. The students are already gearing up for all the competitions for next year.


Mrs. Wallace believes the students would say that the study of Africa was their favorite in Social Studies this year. The “Africa Live Museum” it was called. It included dancing, wearing of cultural clothing, and food; Lots and Lots of food.

Mrs. Stewart’s English 78 taking the PSAT and scoring higher than high school students in the state was amazing!!

The Jungle Book taught in all Language Arts classes. Students will always remember their city bus field trip to see The Jungle Book at Cinemark. It was the first time on public transportation for most of them. That in and of itself was a fantastic learning experience!!

The staff vs. students’ softball game took place this week: The teachers won, but I think the kids enjoyed the competitions between innings the most!

Looking ahead to the end of the year activities: Cosmic Bowling and Great America for the eighth graders, along with Promotion of course. The field day on the last day of school for the 7th graders will be a blast, as always.


The staff and students are already busy planning for next year. Den Pride is going to EXPLODE next year.


Overall, it has been a good year, change is not always welcomed, but it is often for the best. DHSP is ready for what lies ahead.

Charter Chatter June 17, 2016



Class schedules for next year are ready for distribution on Monday, June 20th after school. Students must bring in their updated emergency information form to receive their schedule. Forms were mailed, but are available from the counseling office if they were misplaced. This year, we are excited to announce that Millennium will be having two lunch periods. We are able to utilize our space and  offer more classes this way.  As in the past, schedule change requests will be limited.  Planning schedules is a highly complex process. Since students are leveled in many core classes, switching classes is not an easy one.  Please note that class change requests for lunch period switches, teacher preference, or time preference of classes will not be granted. Thank you for your support and we look forward to another successful year at Millennium!


6th Annual Multicultural Fair

High School students hosted the annual Multicultural Fair on Friday, June 17, 2016. Each year MHS students volunteer to showcase a different country for Primary students to attend and experience a variety of cultures around the world.




Fall Senior Internships

Our Fall senior interns will be starting their internships when we return from summer break in August.  We are very proud of our students and how they conducted themselves with our local business partners.  We received excellent feedback regarding their interviewing skills and professional demeanor throughout the entire placement process.  Keep an eye out for our students at the following businesses and non-profit organizations throughout our community

Delta College Info

The deadline for Fall CES Forms has closed. Registration for Fall 2016 Delta College will take place over the summer. If you are a senior who is required to take a class at Delta and do not register you will be placed in an elective on campus.



Community Service

Community Service: This is a reminder to all students to turn in any completed community service forms they have. All forms must be submitted to the counseling office so they can be uploaded to Aeries. Important deadlines regarding community service are:


June 24th – Deadline for 9th -11th to submit hours towards the 2015-2016 School Year


Incoming freshman can volunteer up to 20 hours of community service before the start of their freshman year. There is no limit of hours over the summer for current students during this summer break.
