This month is filled with many activities. The band placed second in the Light Parade last week. They were awesome. The band also has a concert next week at Kimball. Mrs. Watson’s singers are taking the stage in our gym in very special risers that were purchased in support of her program. Mr. Snyder’s fall Drama production is underway with a packed house for the preview night and will be produced both tonight and tomorrow night.
The high school ended first semester today and will begin the next semester on Monday. Time really flies around here.
Many families have made donations to support our schools. It is a tax deduction since we are a non-profit and it is appreciated. We are putting all donated money and a percentage of every fundraiser into our account called: Field of Dreams….which will be our own football field that will be completed as soon as the remolding is completed in two years. If you wish to help, we are thankful.

Father – Daughter Dance
What an awesome turn out at the Daddy Daughter Dance! We had over 230
people attend! MHS leadership did a phenomenal job decorating the gym
and transforming it into a wonderful candy land. All the dads cleaned
up nicely and escorted their beautiful little princesses and danced
the night away. Thank you Taylor Farms for providing us with all the
delicious food. Photography club did an awesome job capturing the
night and will be emailing photos out shortly. For more candid photos

huge Thank you to staff and students that helped make this event one
to remember. I look forward to this new tradition for our Daddy’s and
their daughters! No worries Mommy, your dance will be coming in March!
Congratulations to little Miss Avery Haines for winning the raffle
prize!! She won dinner at Applebee’s, movie passes, falcon t-shirts
for her and daddy, candy land, and candy!
Band Performance
For anyone interested in joining us for our Winter Band Concert we would love to see you there. If you would be interested in helping out for the night it would be much appreciated as well. Please let me know. The concert will run about an hour. Hope you can join us.

It will be at the Kimball High Theater. Doors will open @ 6:40pm and the concert will begin at 7:00pm. It is next Wednesday 12/14. Cost is $5 for adults, $3 for students/family 11-17yrs, Free 10 yrs or younger.

Pre K
Starting in December we are implementing a language immersion program. All of our students will have the opportunity to learn Spanish by participating in our immersive afternoon program. Five days a week children will take part in typical classroom activities with 5 hours of instruction in Spanish daily. Since children are hardwired to learn language we will continue to deliver our program as usual but in the afternoon we will be hablando en español!
Our Preschool program is expanding! For the 2017-18 school year we will be adding a half-day preschool program and welcoming 40 new children to our learning family. If you are interested in half-day preschool please contact Alejandra Garcia (209) 229-1575 to schedule and informational tour!
T K
TK students have the holiday spirit! They have been busy getting ready for their holiday performance, exploring holidays around the world, and each day have rushed into the classroom to find our scout elf, Tiny. Tiny is an elf from the North Pole who visits our class every day and reports back to the North Pole about all the good choices our students are making. He was so impressed with TK this week that they earned a Polar Express party on Friday! Students loved wearing their pajamas to school, tasting homemade hot chocolate, and watching the Polar Express on their fun Friday. Only one more week of studying before our winter break and the students are working hard! Keep up the great work, TK!
Primary Charter
Morning Tardies
We have had many late PCS students this year. Students are tardy once the Unity Bell has rung (8:13am). If your student arrives at this time or later he/she must come into the office for a tardy note. If a student receives a 4th or 5th tardy in a trimester he/she will sit in the office for lunch detention and any further tardies may result in suspension days. It is important to get our students in the habit of arriving on time and parents are the key to this success.
Neighbors Driveways/Complaints
We have had several recent complaints about our TLC drivers who block our neighbors driveways. These neighbors are very upset when they are unable to pull in or out of their own driveways. Please be respectful and cautious of how you drive and park.
Music Notes
The Primary Winter Music Program is Thursday, December 15, at 6:30 pm, in the TLC gym. This performance is for all K – 4 students. Please have students report to their regular classrooms by 6:10 pm. They will stay in their classrooms, with their teachers until it is their turn to perform. Their teachers will walk them to and from the gym. There are three groups performing. Kindergarten (P6) will perform first, then Phase 1 students (P2, P5 & P7), and the final group will be Phase 2 (P1, P3 & P8). The students must be dropped off and picked up from their classrooms. The performing students will only be in the gym while they are performing. If you need to leave early, please meet your child in their classroom after they perform. We will not dismiss students from the gym. Please have the students dress nicely, in holiday attire, if possible. Holiday hats and headbands are ok, if they are small and low to the head. The head gear MUST NOT move, play music or have flashing lights. The students have been working very hard! They are very excited to perform for you. I am very proud of all of them! See you next week.

Primary Music Director
Primary students are practicing hard for their Winter Performance next week. Please save the date – Thursday, December 15th at 6:30pm in the gym. Please send in gently used books for our PCS book drive. The drive ends December 14th. Please check your students’ folder for other information and important events.
Initial Phase
This week in Initial Phase we concluded our Polar bear research. Student learned that Polar bears are mammals, polar bears can swim, and polar bears have cubs! Look for your students Polar Bear report in their Green folder to learn even more Polar bear facts!
Phase One
What a fun filled and exciting week Phase 1 students had! We heard amazing things about the Father/Daughter Dance last weekend! Everyone had a wonderful time. In Social Studies, your students are learning so much about holidays around the world and tasting new and interesting treats. They have learned different names for Santa Claus, learned about different customs and traditions, and learned some new words in different languages. Phase 1 students are also very busy learning how to write friendly letters. Many are writing to Santa and to other students on campus.
Phase Two
Phase 2 students are enjoying the science experiments we’ve been doing in class. We are learning about the scientific method and how scientists make observations and predictions. We are glad to see that our students are starting to think like scientists and are able to make a hypothesis based on prior knowledge.
Next week, all phase 2 classes will have homework due on Thursday and spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension tests will also be on Thursday. Thank you!
Discovery Charter
We have one week until winter break. We plan to stay with our regular schedule for the week. Make sure your child is completing homework and preparing for their tests.
This week, students worked on their SWO project. They worked cooperatively as they planned activities and presented those activities. Scrapbooks are due on Monday 12/12
Each Monday – we congratulate the top 5 den winners (students who earn the “top 5” points in their den).
PLEASE REVIEW YOUR CHILD’S AGENDA. THEIR AGENDA HOLDS DATES, HOMEWORK, PROJECTS, and other valuable information. They will receive a grade sticker in their agenda next week.

What a busy week at DHSP this week.

Language Arts:
English 78 is busy with only two weeks before vacation. There are eight groups working on a media presentation regarding many aspects of literature, music, art and the books we have read regarding World War II. It is a challenging assignment. The students have also begun to use a more advanced rubric for writing.
Academic Pentathlon is getting serious about their practices. One of our students, Ashneel Reddy, created an interactive study “game” for WWII that the class is thoroughly enjoying.
SWO:
Trimester Two SWO will be introduced in the Language Arts classes on January 9, 2017.
Community service hours for Trimester Two have already begun. Make certain to get your forms signed and turned into Mrs. Dominguez as soon as you reach 10 hours. Remember Community Service counts towards 1/2 of your SWO grade each Trimester. Forms are available from Mrs. Dominguez in D13. You can pick one up during exploration, lunch, before or after school.
Washington D.C. 2017!!!
It’s not too late to sign up for the DC trip. Students will visit the Washington Monument, Arlington National Cemetery and the Holocaust Museum. What an opportunity to see our nations capital with classmates. It’s exciting to see how many students have already signed up for this great opportunity. The first semester finals have concluded and grades will be posted soon. Report cards will be mailed out next week. There will be some important information included with the reports cards, so please be on the lookout for them. If you do not receive a report card by the end next week, please contact the main office to verify your mailing address.
The Spring semester begins this Monday, December 12th.
Senior Internship
Our Spring senior interns will be starting their internships when we return from winter break in January. College bound seniors: most colleges will be notifying applicants the status of their admission in early Spring by either mail or online via the student portal on each individual college’s web site. We anticipate hearing about the acceptance letters. All students accepted to a college or university should let the Counselors know as soon as they are notified.
