Things are changing.  The paper emergency forms will now be revised or created on line through Aeries.  The parents in grades 5-12 are familiar with Aeries, but those in Primary, this will be a new experience.  The school will assist you as needed.  You will receive information on how to get on Aeries and there you will find instructions as to what to do.  In addition to the emergency form, you will find many of the forms and documents that you used to receive in a big envelope at the end of the year.

It is very important all emergency forms are up to date for the start of school.  If you need help, we will assist you.  School for staff begins on July 30, so there will be someone in the office who can help you.  This is a big change, but one we need to accept as part of the new age of technology and just think of the paper and postage it will save!

Be patient, give it your best effort and call for help if you need support.

Yesterday, our Discovery Staff organized the first local Pentathlon for our students.  The topic of study for this school year was Africa which was very broad and detailed in scope.  The subject areas included: Math. Social studies, humanities, Literature, and science.  All of the students learned so much from the addition of this in our curriculum this year.  The event, however was special.  I felt as though I was at the county competition again, it was so professionally run. The students competed well and it was a great success.

We are now officially beginning our study of the next theme for Pentathlon: The Decade of the 60s.  This will be a great topic to explore.  This decade has been called a Transformational Decade and is being compared to the decade we are presently living.  The 60s brought about greater civil rights, more concern for the environment, the onset of laser technology, concern for world peace and there was definitely a change in music!  I hope you will enjoy exploring this new theme with your students next year.

We are able to add the Pentathlon theme to our curriculum to enrich each of our students because of our longer school year.  It has added a dimension to our curriculum that is across curriculum areas that is not usually offered.  Our students have gained so much from this additional focus.

This week on TK island the lil fishies learned about habitats. They learned about the different places like Arctic, forest, ocean, grassland, desert, jungle, pond, farm, Savannah, and our houses. They also learned about some of the different names for animal homes like den, coop, and hole.

While our new building is amazing and we are so very appreciative and happy, there are some parts of our original plan that just couldn’t fit into our budget. One part that didn’t make it was a kindergarten playground. The kindergarten playground will be located next to the bike rack area and open only to kindergarten students during morning recess. This new playground would open up some much needed space for the kindergarten students as well as the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students. We have a quote for $25,000. If you would like to help us, simply hit the donate button on this page and we will be one step closer to our dream playground! We will accept donations from friends, family, etc… Thank you in advance! Share our website on social media to get as many donations as you can! The student that brings in the most donations will win a lunch playdate with the teachers!

Phase One had a blast on their last field trip of the year! They went to the WOW Museum in Lodi and did an activity on the states of matter.

Phase 2 students are finished with state testing and we are very proud of their efforts! Our students stay very busy during the month of June…our 3rd and 4th graders are working on writing fairy tales, poems, performing readers theater, creating and playing math review games, and many other project based learning activities.

Congratulations to all of our May SWO award recipients!
