Our holiday travels became even more interactive this week, as we visited New York, Mexico, France, and Portugal during Science time. We pretended to fly high in the sky on TK Airlines before landing in new places all over the world! In New York, we cuddled-up by the fireplace to read a festive holiday story about St. Nick. We also decorated our very own stockings to hang by the fireplace! In Mexico, we celebrated Los Posadas by breaking open a pinata to reveal fruits, toys and treats. We also completed a poinsettia craft, and decorated a Mexico scrapbook page. In France, we each tasted a delicious yule log cake. Plus, we placed our paper shoes by the fireplace to be filled with a special treat – just like the children in France! The next morning, each pair of shoes had some holiday bubbles inside. Finally, in Portugal, we tasted sweet rice and learned about the three kings. It was a festive holiday week!

Phase 2 students have started to plan out their own missions. They are working in a group to design their buildings, decide where it will be located in California, and how the various buildings will be arranged. They are drawing their layouts and we are impressed with how much thought is being put into them!

We are so proud of our 3rd and 4th graders who worked so hard on making scarves to sell! The First Annual PCS Scarf Sale has been a HUGE hit! All profits will be donated to the Oakland Children’s Hospital. We’d also like to give a BIG thank you to Mrs. Atwood, who organized our scarf committee and took on this great project. Way to go PCS!
