Probably by now, you have seen the news that the county has closed schools until the end of the academic year. It is true for our schools as well, but it is important to realize that learning is still taking place. True, the buildings are closed, but the staff is still teaching and children are still learning. We did an amazing job of switching over to distance learning and the students have responded perfectly.
We are all in a learning curve with virtual teaching and learning and it is exciting and necessary to keep our students engaged and successful as learners.
This week, we launched graded assignments and work for all of our high school students. Next Monday, we are launching mandatory, graded assignments for 7th and 8th grade. To aid those families with limited internet access, we are also enhancing our school wifi to allow students to connect from our parking lots. You will be able to park in our MHS parking lot and connect to complete or submit work. More information to follow.
All of our other grade teachers are in contact with students and helping them navigate options online.
Our Champions program is accepting applications for students grades K to 6 who may need child care if their parents are physically going to work. They need 12 students to open and are ready to do so at any time.
We are here for you and will be sending out details about graduation for high school in the near future.
We are hoping that we can physically have our extended five weeks in June but it not, we will continue online. The safety of our staff and the TLC community is the most important to us.
We miss you and wish you good health.
