Monday Morning Message
Good morning from TLC. All of us are missing you and hoping you are all well. These are trying times, we all feel the loss of social interaction and the confines of staying at home. For those of you who are still physically going to work, it feels bittersweet to be outside and worried yet freeing to be someplace other than home. The office staff and school leaders meet each Friday from 8 to 10 to strategize in this on-going changing times. We are convinced that patience and problem solving are the two greatest attributes we have right now as we navigate how to bring learning to our students and keep our staff optimistic and productive. Yes, teachers miss the students and want them back as soon as possible. Teachers are very dedicated people. They are thrilled when students learn.
The big question many of you have is about grade promotion. Many want to know if their student will need to repeat the grade. The answer is No. All students, TK to 8, will be promoted. The teachers will take into account a need for review and new learning when the students return.
The high school students, on the other hand are expected to complete the courses they are enrolled in by the end of the quarter. Each week, the teachers in those courses are assigning and grading work. The grades are posted in Aeries. The work provided is not optional.
Starting this week, the students in grades 7 and 8 will be assigned one assignment per teacher that is expected to be completed by the end of the week. It is our hope by the end of our extended school year these students will have completed the courses they are taking. This is really important for math. Math is a key factor in determining course placement even in college!
I will be writing and posting my message each Monday. If you have questions, let us know. Thank you for being a part of the Tracy Learning Center Schools. We value your support.
