A Message from the Director

The county was cleared this week to allow students to return to school in person.  Each district and charter has the opportunity to decide how and when to return.  We have submitted a survey for parents to answer to help us determine the best course of action.  We would like to thank the almost 700 families that responded.  How we begin reopening is decided with your input.  Thank you for taking the time to let us know how you feel about returning to campus.  For now, let me give you the best of our thinking (based on initial survey results):

We will continue to keep our tentative dates for reopening.

Primary: On November 2, 2020

We will expand and allow more students who wish to return in person to return.  We will adjust staffing to meet the need if necessary.  All other students will remain online with the current schedule.

Discovery: on November 9

It appears that the survey will indicate a desire for 40% to return for in person.  The rest will remain with distance learning.  Those in distance learning will be included in the classes in person.  They will watch and participate in real-time with the students and teachers who are on campus.  We are exploring the idea of ALL students online Friday with an independent assignment to allow for deep cleaning of our campus.

Classes will be the full schedule from 8:00 to 4:00.

Arrival will be a rolling start from 7:30 to 8:00.  Pick up will be 4:00 to 4:30.  All students must be dropped off and picked up in the car line.  No walkers.

Millennium: on November 16

It appears that the survey will indicate a desire for 40% to return for in person.  The rest will remain with distance learning.  Those in distance learning will be included in the classes in person.  They will watch and participate in real-time with the students and teachers who are on campus.  We are exploring the idea of ALL students online Friday with an independent assignment to allow for deep cleaning of our campus.

Classes are the full schedule.

Arrival for zero period is 7:15-7:30

Arrival for first period is 8:00 – 8:30

All students must enter the back gate until second period.

All students will exit school from front gate.

Of course, this plan may be modified as we look at how many students want to return to campus as well as grade level.   This first survey allows developing a more concrete plan now that we know what our TLC families want.  In the coming week, we will share our plan and ask for a firm commitment from our families.

It is our hope to please most of you with our choice of online or in person.  Strict guidelines for safety are in place and must be followed for arriving and leaving school.  Temperatures will be taken, questions answered, and hand sanitizer prior to entering school.  Masks must be worn at all times.

Further information will be sent out after the survey is completed so please watch our chatter, website and facebook for more information.  Thank you again for input.

PCS

Online primary teachers sent out a survey for PCS asking if we had any other students who would like to return to campus.  We are looking at how we can accommodate the 45 or so students who would like to return to in-person instruction.   Once we determine which grades are affected we will be contacting you to discuss your options.

DCS

Parents/Guardians and students!

MHS

Thank you to all our parents who complete the MHS return to campus survey.  We are reviewing the results to determine what our modified return to campus would look like.  How hope is to give parents and students the option of staying online or being in class.  This all depends on the survey results and if we are able to maintain safe conditions for all staff and students.   Stay tuned and we will have more information this week.
