Important Info Re – Lifetouch photos and MHS Graduation Day Pics

Lifetouch School Portraits –

As you all know, this year came with many difficulties. I have heard that a very large number of families paid for but did not receive their Lifetouch Pictures.

Some of these picture packets have never been picked up in the office. Please come to the office to pick your student’s pictures or proofs up. Many packets sent home only had proofs without the purchased pictures.
If this happened for your students please contact Lifetouch Customer Service immediately at (800) 736-4753.

Fast Track Procedures 2021

Friday is the first day of Fast Track for our High School students.  Everything you need to know about coming back to MHS on May 21st is below. If you have a more specific question, feel free to email us at: tlclearning@tracylc.net

Arrival:

We will be using the back gate located on Holly Dr. from 8:00 – 8:30. After 8:30, students are tardy and will need to enter campus through the front office. The front office should only be used for late arrivals.

We will be performing temperature checks for all students on a daily basis so we ask that you arrive early to help facilitate this process; we thank you in advance for your cooperation!

Departure:

All Fast Track classes end at 12:45. All students will exit through the M-1 gate located in the front of the school. Please do not use the front drive through to pick-up your student. We will use the same back gate parking lot on Holly Dr. for all vehicle pick-ups/drop-offs.

Arrival/Temp. Check

We will be using the back gate for morning arrival. This is the gate located off of Holly Dr. If dropping off a student, you may use this area as a drive through. A walk up path will be identified with cones.

Several teachers will be outside taking temperature checks. Students showing a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be sent home.

We ask that you make only right-hand turns entering and exiting this parking lot.

Side-Gate Entrance

The field gate located off of Holly Dr. will be open for walk-in traffic. Teachers will be posted here to temperature check all arriving students.

Hand Sanitizing

All students are required to sanitize their hands upon entering campus and entering any classroom. All rooms and entrances have sanitizer available.

Masks

Masks will be worn both inside and outside of class by everybody.

With a doctor’s note, the use of face shields are permitted.

We will have extra cloth masks available for unexpected situations.

Masks will be required for all of Fast Track.

Students will not be permitted to enter campus without a mask on.

Assigned Seats

Students will have assigned seats in every class. These spaces will be sprayed or wiped with disinfectant each day.

Food

Snacks may be brought to school.

Our food services are making snacks for students but you will have to pre-pay through school lunch accounts with on- line payment. No cash will be exchanged for individual lunches. Students who are purchasing food at school will order electronically the day before.

These snacks will be available during the 15 minute nutrition break. We suggest bringing your own snacks the first day.

BackPacks

Backpacks are permitted.

Laptops/Chromebooks

Students are allowed to bring their own laptop or chromebook for use in class when needed. The school is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen property. If you borrowed a Chromebook, please bring it back to school on the first day.

Departure

The back gate parking lot off Holly Dr. will also be used for pick-up at 12:45.

We ask that you make only right-hand turns entering and exiting this parking lot.

DCS Jumpstart for next year – New Discovery schedule starting June 1st

Attention Discovery 5-8th Students:

Beginning June 1, 2021 Discovery Charter School will begin a new tradition.  Taking an idea from Millennium, we will use the last month for a Jump Start approach to the next school year.  The following changes will take place.

  • Hybrid learning will be discontinued.  Students who attend school will experience this Jump Start. Students have the option for June to remain home with daily asynchronous learning assignments Monday through Friday. No more Zoom for distance learners
  • The option is open for students who are currently at home to return to in-person for June first, if we are notified by May 28.
  • All students will have asynchronous learning on Fridays.
  • In-person students attend school from 8:00 to 4:00 Monday through Thursday.  They will remain home on Fridays for achromous learning for the remainder of this school year.

Beginning June 1

  • Students will report to school at the usual time 7:30 to 8:00 in the new car line location for next year.  The new car line location is the drive-through in the front of the main office on Beverly. This is also where students will be dismissed at the end of the day between 4:00 to 4:15.
  • Students will move from class to class with safety measures ( Masks, distance, sanitizing all in place).
  • Students may want to bring a backpack since they will need to carry their supplies from class to class.
  • Lunch ordering and times will remain the same.
  • Teachers will focus on preparing students for the new school year with a review and extended learning and enrichment opportunities.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
Over the next two weeks, starting May 17th-27th, your student will take the state standardized test. This year testing will look different because of our current hybrid model. This means there are many additional components that need to be considered before we can begin testing.
The state test can only be taken on a personal laptop or a TLC provided Chromebook.

  • If your student has a personal laptop/computer then they must download the AIR Secure Test App to be able to access and sign in to their state tests. (Link to download App for your students specific computer https://ca.portal.cambiumast.com/)
  • Videos for downloading the AIR Secure Test App :

How to install test for PC: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CEFr6T7bXj8

How to install test for Mac: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNDXggjeBQU

How to start the test: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3EHHAZK0kIM

  • If your student has a personal Chromebook then they will not be able to access the state test and will need to either use a different computer OR check out a TLC Chromebook on Friday May 14th between 8-12pm for 5th/6th grade students (to be ready to test on May 17th) All chromebooks checked out for testing must be returned to the front office by Thursday May 20th at 4:30pm. 7th/8th grade students in need of a chromebook may check out (on a first come first serve basis) chromebooks for testing on Friday May 21st between 8am-12pm (first come first serve). We have an extremely limited supply of additional chromebooks and so we implore you to consider all options in your household before opting to check one out from the office. If you do not have any other options then you must email acerezo@tracylc.net to let us know that you plan to check out a TLC chromebook. Chromebooks will be in the front office for check out on a first come first served basis.
  • If your student already has a TLC Chromebook then they will be able to access the test using the preloaded AIR Secure Test app (can be found on the login page on the bottom left under APPS)

5th and 6th grade students will be testing during the week of May 17th and 7th and 8th graders will be testing the following week, the week of May 24th. I will be checking daily to make sure all students have accessed, begun, and then completed each component of the test. We have a small window of time between now and June to make sure all students have completed their requisite tests; parents/guardians of any students who have failed to begin/complete their tests will be contacted to ensure that their student has access.
State testing is an important part of our school year and we appreciate your help in making sure that every student is able to test successfully.
For any questions or concerns please feel free to contact acerezo@tracylc.net

From the desk of the TLC Board President…..

Hello!  The Tracy Learning Center Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Carolyn Woods will be the new CEO of the Tracy Learning Center.  Carolyn has been an employee of the  Tracy Learning Center since 2004.  She started as the first kindergarten teacher at Primary and continued to teach kindergarten through fourth grade for many years.  She has been involved in the leadership structure of TLC since working as the Curriculum Coordinator for Primary Charter School in 2004, to serving as the Primary Charter School Learning Director from 2005-2017.  In 2017, she was named the Director of Human Resources and was given the unique opportunity to work alongside Virginia Stewart on various administrative tasks.  Carolyn’s strengths are displayed in her expertise and passion to deliver high-quality support to those she serves.

While we celebrate Virginia Stewart’s transition to “retirement,” we are confident that Carolyn will provide strong continuity of leadership, uphold the vision of the Tracy Learning Center, and ensure that TLC will continue to succeed and thrive.

As this year marks our 20th year as a charter school, we remain fully committed to the success of our students and look forward to the continued partnership and support of our parents, staff, and community members.

Respectfully,

Mike Souza

TLC Board President
