A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods
- In the event of a COVID exposure, close contacts will be notified. A close contact, as defined by the CDC, is someone who was within 6 feet of an infected person (laboratory-confirmed or a clinically compatible illness) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period
- A “modified 10-day quarantine” recommendation for those who were determined to be in close contact and are unvaccinated will be issued. During a modified quarantine, students may continue to attend school IF they meet all of the following requirements:
- i. Are asymptomatic;
- ii. Continue to appropriately mask, as required;
- iii. Undergo at least twice weekly testing during quarantine; and
- iv. Continue to quarantine for all extracurricular activities at school, including sports, and activities within the community setting.
- Fully vaccinated individuals, including students, if asymptomatic, can refrain from quarantine following a known exposure to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. In other words, fully vaccinated individuals are exempt from the modified quarantine recommendation.
- While in quarantine, we do not want students to miss out on any aspect of their education. If your student is out due to a COVID-19 quarantine, please make sure to request work assignments from your student’s teachers. The office staff can help assist with the request.

Tracy Learning Center Pre-K
Pre-K is in full swing. We just finished talking about primary colors and we are now on secondary colors. Mix colors that create secondary colors such as purple, pink, or orange. The letter of the week is M and the number is 6. Have your child find things around the environment that start with the letter M. Have them count out objects to 6.
We are getting ready for the homecoming parade next Friday September 17th at 1:30. Come on out and enjoy the parade.

Our carline extends onto Holly Dr. While we cannot dictate road rules, there is a clear line. Be courteous of those in line and enter at the end of the line. PCS PRO TIP: students are not considered LATE PICK UP until 3:45. As long as you are in the carline BEFORE 3:45 your child will be called. The closer to 3:45 the shorter the line. 🙂

PCS Campus Beautification
Our Campus Beautification Committee held their first clean-up day of the year! We had 2 students from each class selected by their teachers to help pick up trash on Friday morning. This will be a monthly event and our campus beautification committee even has some other fun things planned!

â…š Social Studies with Mr. Bird:
This week students wrapped up their lessons on the early humans by studying four hominin groups: Homo habilis (Handy Man), Homo erectus (Upright Man), Homo neanderthalensis (Neanderthal Man), and Homo sapiens (Wise Man). They learned about their capabilities that helped them survive such as using fire, stronger bones, standing on two feets, advanced tools, and more. To bring our lesson to life, students conducted brief act-it-outs to show the capabilities these early hominins had (see pictures below).
Monday, September 13, students will create a poster highlighting one of the hominin groups and their characteristics. They will also be completing a study guide to help prepare for the upcoming quiz. Tuesday, September 14, students will have a quiz on the early hominins. We’ll then start our next lesson on hunters and gatherers.
D.A.R.E. lesson #5 is due on Monday. Please be sure to look over and sign the lesson once they have completed it. The information to answer questions is on the backside of the lesson.
The next D.A.R.E. donation day is next Friday, September 17. Students need to be sure they are tracking their donation points and have me sign it for them.
â…ž Social Studies with Ms. Zaca:
With this week, we dived into the origins and rise of Christianity in the Roman Empire. Students began the week note taking a general overview of the relationship between Romans and Christians. We completed page 27 in our notebooks writing about the persecution of Christians, the eventual toleration and conversion of the Roman Empire to a Christendom, and why so many found Christianity appealing despite many being persecuted.
Next week we will explore the fall of the Roman Empire and what led to its decline of power. Students will have a quiz on pages 28 and 29 on Wednesday.
Please make sure that your child has added themselves to the google classroom for social studies! Announcements for class are made on here, in addition to tutorial videos for their homework assignments, the calendar of events, and any notes taken during class are uploaded onto the website. Please have your child email me if they have not signed up yet so that they can receive the classroom code from me (if they do not have it in their agendas).

Math with Ms. Saenz:
Hello parents! I’m Ms. Saenz, the new 5th and 6th grade math teacher. This week, we spent time getting to know each other. Students were asked to fill a paper brown bag with 3 items from home that showcase their likes, hobbies, and interests. I learned a lot about each student. We also spent class time reviewing long division, multi-digit multiplication, addition, and subtraction. Finally, we practice classroom procedures and policies. We will continue to practice each and everyday classroom etiquette.
*Parents, please have your student bring a spiral, 1-subject notebook on Monday. Students will use the notebook to take notes and paste resource pages.
*On Monday, I will send home a Meet the Teacher letter. After reviewing it with your child, please sign the attached signature page and send it with your student the next day.
I am excited for the new school year!
Math with Mrs. Zuniga:
Zuniga Homeroom: We began multiplying by 2 digits this week, but will need to continue practicing. I recommend parents work with your students at home to master multiplication fact fluency.
Ferguson Homeroom: Students did great learning the operations of decimals this week. We will continue to practice dividing decimals into next week and review for a quiz on Friday.
Soto Homeroom: We have our fraction quiz this week just focusing on adding, subtracting, and multiplying. Most students are very proficient in these concepts however, I do recommend having students practice at home to ensure mastery. Fractions are the basic foundation for Algebra in high school.
Williams Homeroom: We have reviewed fractions and integers this last week and added an introduction to exponents. We will continue to practice our exponent lessons next week.
Math with Mrs. Rapp:
Pre-Algebra (Pink, Yellow, & Green): During week 6 we worked on mastering Fraction Operations and ended the week with a quiz. Moving into next week we will be working on Exponents and Perfect Squares/Cubes.
Algebra(Red): Throughout week 6 we started Unit 2: Multi-Step Equations and Inequalities. We tackled through the first four sections and ended the week with a quiz. This rigorous pace will continue throughout this trimester as we hit a lot of topics that are partially review for this group.
Language Arts with Ms. Rodieck:
All Homerooms: We finished the writing process by typing and submitting a written assignment on Google Classroom this week. Students will now do two or three writing assignments a month and pick one to submit at the end of the month.
Students need to also carry headphones in their backpacks for the times we do I-ready in the classroom. Inexpensive ones that can plug into the computers are the best.
Zuniga’s HR continued to read Love That Dog. We had a quick introduction to verbs and submitted a written assignment. Next week, we will continue to read Love That Dog, Write some poetry based on the novel, and have our third quiz of the year.
Rodieck’s, Nijjar’s, and Ferguson’s HRs continued to read A Long Walk to Water and learned about different types of conflict in literature. We also talked about contrast seen between different parts of the novel. Next week, we will review verbs, continue reading, and will have our third quiz of the year.
Language Arts with Mr. Harding:
All classes continue reading A Long Walk to Water. As we approach the midpoint of the book, the themes are revealing themselves and the narrative is beginning to have meaning. Our main focus is note taking and being able to recall then verify events from the text. Students will be able to use their notes for any quiz or exam, but not the book.
We will begin iReady online practice in the classroom next week. All students should carry a reliable but cheap set of earbuds in their backpack. When we use the program, earphones are required.
Language Arts with Mrs. Soto
This week we focused on working on their essays. This consisted of a peer review and revisions. Along with their essays they are continuing to read the book quickly and are set to finish it next week.
Students should look forward to a final project that is associated with the book and many other final assignments to go along with the plot and themes of A Long Walk to Water.
Discovery 5-8th Physical Education Department:
Football Friday – Staff vs Student Flag football game
The students put up a great battle on the field, but the teachers kept their seven year winning streak alive. The final score was 21-7.
Life Management with Ms. Ferguson:
During this short week the students worked on reading recipes and learning the importance of reading ALL of the instructions on the recipes! We also practiced doubling or halving recipes. The students ended their week by making scrambled eggs! It was a fun and simple cooking day, check out the pictures below 🙂
Art (Creative Expression) with Mrs. Aldrich:
Students created “soul” vision boards, which are vision boards filled with inspiration and joy and things that bring us meaning, rather than solely future aspirations. Students shared their vision boards with the entire class! Below are some student examples:

Important Upcoming Dates:
9/14: Homecoming Rally at 9:30. Our homecoming court will be announced!
9/17: Homecoming Parade Downtown (Central to 10th St.) at 1:30. This is a 11:30 release day for all MHS students. The parade is free to attend!
We will announce the winners of the homecoming court just before the football game starting at 6:30. The game begins at 7:00 at the Tracy High football stadium. The homecoming dance begins at 9:30 (ends at 11:30) in the TLC gym. Permission slips are required for this year’s dance and are available in our Google Classrooms.
STAY TUNED RE: SPRING 2022 DELTA COLLEGE EARLY START
The next opportunity for students to take a Delta College class is Spring 2022, beginning in January! The process will begin with an informational video to be released the week of September 20th which will be available in the Charter Chatter, the MHS Counseling website, and students’ nest Google Classrooms. If your student is interested, make sure they are maintaining A’s and B’s in their high school classes and watch for announcements and deadlines. For more information about the College Early Start program, please visit this link and watch for updates later this week that apply to Spring 2022:  https://millenniumcounseling.
Early Release-Days: We have 3 early release days scheduled this year. During these days, students will attend school until 11:30. The dates are:
November 5th
February 4th
April 29th
LUNCH: Ordering lunch is slightly different this year. All students should have a lunch account to pay for lunches. To register, go to https://www.mymealtime.com/ and create an account. You must choose/type in your specific school (Millennium High School) and you will need your student school I.D. number. If you have any difficulties creating an account online, money can still be added to your account by either cash, check, or debit card. You can drop off payment in the lunch dropbox that is located in the main office. We are still in the process of adding new students to our mealtime system and hope to have it completed next week.
Lunch is ordered the day before it is delivered to class. All students should order their lunch during 3rd period/HUB time. The Google Classroom code is SEUNSOU. Applications for Free & Reduced meals must be completed and turned in every year. You can apply on the website.
