Beginning next month, all schools will have an early release day the first Friday of each month to allow time for teachers to participate in important professional development workshops, staff meetings, and training sessions. Release times for each school will be as follows:

We enjoyed a wonderful dance, celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month. All of the PCS seemed to enjoy watching the talented dancers.
Jog-A-Thon Sponsors Needed!
Hello PCS parents, we are preparing for our 7th Annual Jog-A-Thon and we are looking for business owners who are interested in supporting our school and students by sponsoring our event. All donations will be used for event t-shirts and student awards and prizes. Sponsors will have their business logo printed on students’ shirts, and we have a banner option as well. If you or someone you know owns a business and would like to sponsor this event please contact Coach Knaus at gknaus@tracylc.net and she will email you all of the necessary information.

Below you will find a link to our electronic parent website (AERIES). This database contains critical information about each DCS student and each student’s emergency contact information. This portion MUST BE FILLED OUT BY YOU. All data will be used to contact you in the event of an emergency. It is very important that you take the time to ensure we have all necessary information.
Use the following link https://tracylearningcenter.aeries.net/student and login in with the email and password you created when registering your student at the beginning of the school year. From there, navigate to the DATA CONFIRMATION PROCESS link. Once you enter the information, THE LAST STEP IS TO PRINT THE EMERGENCY CARD and turn it into the front office or to your child’s teacher.

⅚ Social Studies with Mr. Bird:
During week 9 (9/27 – 10/01), students showed what they’ve learned by creating a comic strip about life in the Neolithic Age. They showed how life has changed over time from the Paleolithic to the Neolithic Age. Later in the week, students participated in a fun activity in which they competed with other groups to weave baskets out of strips of paper. The winning groups’ baskets held the most apples! See pictures below:
For week 10 (10/04 – 10/08), students will start the week by working on their D.A.R.E. reports. It is a short essay about what they have learned in the D.A.R.E. program. We will only have Monday to work on it during class, but if students do not finish, they are expected to continue working on it for homework. It is due October 11. I will be posting the instructions over this weekend for students who want to get started on it early. Later in the week, students will play review games and create a study guide for the upcoming unit test.
Early Humans and the Stone Age unit test is planned for October 8. Students should be studying their notebooks and worksheets in the meantime.
Students will be presenting their D.A.R.E. songs to the class this week! Periods 1-3 will perform on Wednesday and periods 5-7 will perform on Thursday.
The last D.A.R.E. donation day is Friday, October 8. Please contact me at dbird@tracylc.net if it’s a large donation so I can have students from leadership assist at carline.
⅞ Social Studies with Ms. Zaca:
This upcoming week we will begin our new unit: Islam. Just like with the previous unit when we learned about Christianity. Students will be introduced to the basic foundations and history of the creation and spread of the religion in the early 19th century, the growing cities during this time, and the achievements in science and math during the Islamic Golden Age. Content will be taught in an objective, balanced, and factual manner that is part of our California Social Studies curriculum.
Please make sure that your child has added themselves to the google classroom for social studies! Announcements for class are made on here, in addition to tutorial videos for their homework assignments, the calendar of events, and any notes taken during class are uploaded onto the website. Please have your child email me if they have not signed up yet so that they can receive the classroom code from me (if they do not have it in their agendas).

Hello Parents,
As I wrap up my 3rd week as your child’s new math teacher, I have been busy getting to know your student(s) and creating classroom procedures and policies. I also want to thank all of the students and parents for their patience. I know some are eager to get the ball rolling with homework. I promise at the start of October it will be more productive.
This week, we worked on organizing our math notebook. The notebook will contain notes, resource pages, and activity sheets. The idea of the notebook is for students to use it as a reference for their classwork, homework or study guide. It’s important your child has their notebook with them everyday and keeps it organized. We also started our lesson on Fractions.
Classroom behavior has improved this week. Students are being respectful of each other, not talking over me, and helping maintain the classroom clean.

Math with Mrs. Zuniga:
Zuniga Homeroom: We are starting our division lessons next week.
Ferguson Homeroom: Students started simple interest this week and we will continue to practice about simple interest before moving on to discount and tax concepts.
Soto Homeroom: We will be moving to decimals next week.
Williams Homeroom: Students did well on their quiz and began scientific notation. Next week we will review all our lessons from exponents to ordering real numbers for our quiz on Friday.
Math with Mrs. Rapp:
Pre-Algebra (Pink, Yellow, & Green): Week 9 flew by. I cannot believe we are getting close to the end of the trimester. This week we went through scientific notation and ended the week with a quiz. Starting next week we will begin Order of Operations as well as Evaluating Expressions, which wraps up Unit 1 for us. This means that we will be having our first unit test within the next week and a half. I feel that students are showing understanding and will do very well. Beginning next week we will also be spending more time using iReady to really master some of the skills and concepts that students are missing in their mathematical understanding.
Algebra(Red): We jammed through the rest of Unit 2 this week and ended the unit with our second unit test. I am sure that I will be very pleased with their scores and overall average. Next week we will kick off Unit 3 on Relations and Functions.
Language Arts with Ms. Rodieck:
All Homerooms: Just want to remind that students need to be carrying small inexpensive headphones or earbuds (that plug into the computer) to use when we are doing I-Ready. We will be doing I-Ready weekly Students also need to be carrying a book in their backpack that they can pull out and read. Book Reports will be due Wednesday, October 29, 2021.
Zuniga’s HR finished reading Love That Dog and we will start Hate That Cat – the sequel. It is Jack’s second year with Miss. Stretchberry and we will learn more about his family in this book. Students will also be typing one of their narratives to submit for a grade.
Rodieck’s, Nijjar’s, and Ferguson’s HRs finished A Long Walk to Water. Next week we will be completing a final project about the book and presenting them to the class. There will be no spelling/vocabulary words this week so students can focus on their final project.
Language Arts with Mr. Harding:
All classes have finished reading A Long Walk to Water. We will complete an exam, write an essay, and complete a group visual composition . The need for effective student notes will be demonstrated in this process.
We will use iReady next week to reinforce skills.
Language Arts with Mrs. Soto
All classes did Soundbites this week, Soundbites are news articles that the students chose and presented as if they were news broadcasters.
Students were also assigned an essay this week that will be due October 6th.
Next week we will be starting a poetry unit.
Discovery 5-8th Physical Education Department:
It is week one of our new units, we have been working on basic skills and will move on to lead up games next week.

Early Release-Days: We have 3 early release days scheduled this year. During these days, students will attend school until 11:30. These dates were originally scheduled to be fully asynchronous but are now minimum days. The dates are:

ATHLETICS
While COVID is still in the forefront of how we operate, some restrictions have been lifted for indoor sports (while others remain firmly in place). We are now able to allow spectators at all athletic events, but masks are required to be worn indoors at all times, which would include any volleyball and basketball events. Fans that do not wish to follow that expectation (vaccinated or not) will unfortunately not be permitted into the indoor venues at this time. We have done a great job over the last year and a half following these guidelines, and I know we all anticipate the day it’s no longer required!

SPRING 2022 DELTA COLLEGE EARLY START FORMS DUE TODAY, 10/11
The next opportunity for students to take a Delta College class is Spring 2022, beginning in January! Multiple forms for all students who hope to participate are due today, 10/11. Informational videos have been made available on the MHS Counseling website, students’ nest Google Classrooms, Unity and here in the Charter Chatter over the past few weeks.
Students who have applied online to Delta College and received their Delta ID#, must complete the MHS Grade Check Google Form (https://forms.gle/2NUBvx4DmtzJyV65A) AND either the College Early Start Form and/or Dual Enrollment Program Form, depending on what class(es) they will be taking. These are all due TODAY, Monday October 11 by 11:59pm.

COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITY! 10/17/2021
Southwinds Church is back with another Harvest Party! This organization is looking for students that enjoy carnival games and activities. Students are required to arrive at 1 pm. That will give the organization enough time to prepare students on what they will do and help set up. The event is on their big courtyard facing Middle Rd, so students cannot miss it, and they will have a large feather banner that says “INFO”. The Harvest party will have lots of carnival eats and provide students with a few tickets to get some food. Make sure to bring a water bottle, sunglasses, and a little extra money if students want more food. This opportunity is FIRST COME FIRST SERVE. Please do not miss out!!
Student duties will be to run carnival games and pass out candy.
Time duration: 1:00pm- 6:30-7:00pm the latest. Southwinds will make sure to sign your community service paper that day. Please make sure to Print the community service form out before you go to the event. Students are able to bring a friend to work with them at their game station. This is a family event, so please dress in appropriate attire.

On Saturday, instead of sleeping in, six brave Falcons rose and shone at our first in-person speech tournament since March 13, 2020. And their persistence paid off! In a field of nine schools and ~160 entries, all of our MHS students finished in the top 10 in their events. If you see these students around campus, please congratulate them!

LUNCH: Ordering lunch is slightly different this year. All students should have a lunch account to pay for lunches. To register, go to https://www.mymealtime.com/ and create an account. You must choose/type in your specific school (Millennium High School) and you will need your student school I.D. number. If you have any difficulties creating an account online, money can still be added to your account by either cash, check, or debit card. You can drop off payment in the lunch dropbox that is located in the main office. We are still in the process of adding new students to our mealtime system and hope to have it completed next week.
Lunch is ordered the day before it is delivered to class. All students should order their lunch during 3rd period/HUB time. The Google Classroom code is SEUNSOU. Applications for Free & Reduced meals must be completed and turned in every year. You can apply on the website
