TLC Charter Chatter
News, Information, and Updates for Primary, Discovery, and Millennium Charter Schools
A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods
New guidelines for exposure notifications were released this week. The CDPH is now recommending a group-tracing approach to students who were exposed as opposed to solely contacting close contacts. Beginning January 13, 2022, we will send home the exposure notification letter to the whole class when a staff member or student tests positive. For high school students, however, since they are in mixed groups all day, the recommendation is for unvaccinated students to test weekly, and all students who experience symptoms to test right away. According to the CDPH, this strategy allows for schools to provide safe in-person instruction without undertaking intense (and often protracted) contact tracing processes to identify individual students within a specified radius of someone infected, which is what we were doing previously.
We are hoping that the recent push to provide more testing to schools will mean that we will have the availability to test students on our site. We hope this will happen sooner rather than later. In the meantime, free covid testing is offered at the following sites:
*Tracy Independent Study Charter School (TISCS) parking lot
1904 N. Corral Hollow Rd (8am–6pm).
*Tracy High School parking lot
315 E. 11th Street (9am-6pm)
*Kimball High School parking lots
3200 Jaguar Run (9am–6pm)
You can read the new guidance for the updated group-tracing approach in its entirety at the following link:
Once again, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Woods
We received our supply of N95 masks this week and have made them available to students in every classroom.
REMINDER: TLC is closed Monday, January 17th in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King.

The 2020–21 California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) results were publicly released this week. The public is able to access these results on the Test Results for California’s Assessments website. Click on the first box that says “English Language Arts/Math Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments” and search for Primary Charter to access our scores from last year. Even during the challenging year of distance learning and only about half of our students returning to campus, we still had scores to be proud of! Here is a quick snapshot of how our 3rd and 4th graders performed last year. We are very happy with our results, as they are above the state average in both categories. This would not be possible without our amazing teachers, hard working students, and supportive parents.

**Attention All Parents**
Below you will find a link to our electronic parent website (AERIES). This database contains critical information about each DCS student and each student’s emergency contact information. This portion MUST BE FILLED OUT BY YOU. All data will be used to contact you in the event of an emergency. It is very important that you take the time to ensure we have all necessary information.
Use the following link https://tracylearningcenter.aeries.net/student and login in with the email and password you created when registering your student at the beginning of the school year. From there, navigate to the DATA CONFIRMATION PROCESS link. Once you enter the information, THE LAST STEP IS TO PRINT THE EMERGENCY CARD and turn it into the front office or to your child’s teacher.
If you believe you have already completed this process OR you need help completing this process please call 209-290-0511. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

SPED SPOTLIGHT:
Jan 20th is the “International Day of Acceptance”
The day encourages people to tell the world that you are accepting of people with disabilities. You can start change by demonstrating acceptance and showing the world that you embrace people of all abilities.
The Special Education Department at Tracy Learning Center is working hard to create school cultures that embrace all students through Inclusion. Inclusion secures opportunities for special education students to learn alongside their general education peers.
Push-in services are an amazing service that allows many of our students to receive assistance in the general education classrooms alongside their peers. During push-in services special education staff members use a variety of strategies including, but not limited to: in the moment and pre-planned differentiation, scaffolding difficult concepts, re-teaching of the curriculum, and social emotional learning supports. These supports benefit not only the special education students, but general education students as well.
In addition to push-in support, we also provide social skills groups from TK through High School. Groups are made up of general education and special education students who meet specific criteria. The groups run weekly and focus on age appropriate topics to facilitate friendships, teach problem solving skills, and address difficulties in self-advocacy.
There are many resources out there if you’re interested to learn more about inclusion. You can also reach out to our special education staff with any questions.
10 Reasons to Support Inclusive School Communities for All Students
LUNCH: Ordering lunch is slightly different this year. All students should have a lunch account to pay for lunches. To register, go to https://www.mymealtime.com/ and create an account. You must choose/type in your specific school (Millennium High School) and you will need your student school I.D. number. If you have any difficulties creating an account online, money can still be added to your account by either cash, check, or debit card. You can drop off payment in the lunch dropbox that is located in the main office. We are still in the process of adding new students to our mealtime system and hope to have it completed next week.
Lunch is ordered the day before it is delivered to class. All students should order their lunch during 4th period/HUB time. The Google Classroom code is SEUNSOU. Applications for Free & Reduced meals must be completed and turned in every year. You can apply on the school’s website.
