TLC Charter Chatter

News, Information, and Updates for Primary, Discovery, and Millennium Charter Schools

A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods

Did you know that all three schools adopted a verifiable assessment program this year? The iReady program is on a list of approved academic progress indicators that charter schools can use to support data for academic growth in the charter renewal process. As required in Assembly Bill 1505, verified data is used in the charter school renewal process for schools in the low and middle performance categories. These charter schools must use verified data to show measurable increases in academic achievement or strong postsecondary outcomes. Increases in academic achievement are defined as showing one-year’s progress for each year in school. Primary, Discovery and Millennium all fall under the “middle” performance category, along with the majority of charter schools in California. We will be ready with data in hand when it comes time to renew our charters!

REMINDER: Friday, March 4th is an early release day. Primary students will be dismissed at 11 AM, Discovery and Millennium will be dismissed at 11:30 AM.

Parents, we need your help! Please send your children to school with their lunch. When lunches are dropped off midday, it puts an added burden on the office staff and causes unnecessary interruptions in the classroom. Food delivery services such as Door Dash, Uber Eats, and Postmates are not allowed, along with fast food, soda or sugary drinks. We appreciate your cooperation!

Learning Plan Meetings with Current 9th-11th Grade Students

Click on this link to see how to view your student’s anticipated classes:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=osxvuaXa_6o

Mrs. Woods and the Millennium High School Counselors are in the process of meeting with each student in grades 9-11 to plan classes for Fast Track (our mandatory summer school program) and the following school year. We do this by reviewing the student’s transcript with them and discussing the student’s goals and preferences. The anticipated classes are entered in the student’s Academic Plan in Aeries – this is viewable by parent and student in Aeries after logging in and clicking “Classes”, then “Academic Plan”. Please see the attached video for instructions.

***Please Note: Our top priority in meeting with students is to ensure a plan for them to meet all MHS graduation requirements, and their core academic classes are most important. Those who need elective credits provide us with their top choice(s), and we will try to place them accordingly after the master schedule is created, but their top choice elective(s) are not guaranteed. Additionally, at this time we do not know which teachers will teach which classes, or what periods they will be offered. This means we do not know what the start time will be for students who have less than 7 classes (juniors and seniors only). Our first step in creating the master schedule is to find out how many students need each class, and we are very glad to have the opportunity to do so through having individual conversations with each of our students.***

Fast Track schedules and further details will be mailed home during the month of April. Schedules for the 2022-2023 school year will be distributed near the end of Fast Track.

Thank you for your support in this process!

A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods

Wonderful things are happening all around campus! Here are just a few highlights:

  • This year MHS basketball parents, players, and fans were treated to half-time and side-line performances by our first-ever Discovery Cheer Club! The DCS Cheer Club is one of many new clubs we started this year in Discovery. We look forward to more performances to come!
  • The academic competition teams at Millennium all achieved major successes this year. Led by Mr. Lamanna, the Academic Pentathlon team finished 6th in the county and scored more highly than any other high school in Tracy. The team also took 2nd place in the Division I Super Quiz. Way to go!!!
  • The Mother-Son Dance was not only a successful fundraiser for TLC, it was also a night to remember for so many of our parents and students. Thank you, Coach KV (and all staff who volunteered), for the time and effort you put into planning such a great event!

We look forward to creating many more memorable experiences for all of our students this year.

Enjoy the 3-day weekend!

Congratulations yet again to Lady Falcons Soccer! On Friday the girls entered the 1st round of playoffs as a #4 seed against the #5 seed, Golden Sierra. The Lady Falcons took a 1-0 lead before the half, but Golden Sierra answered back about 20 minutes into the second half. Despite a stadium blackout in the final 5 minutes of play, causing a game delay, the ladies were able to put one in the back of the net with just under a minute to play, taking a 2-1 lead, and the victory! The team will head out to the Grape Bowl on Wednesday 2/16 for round 2 against #1 seeded Holt Academy of Lodi (Battle of the CCAA Co-Champions!) Tickets to the game can be purchased through GoFan. SPED SPOTLIGHT:

This week we want to put a spotlight on Social Emotional Learning. Whether it’s called “social and emotional learning” or “emotional intelligence,” most people understand that it is critical to pay attention to the development of the whole young person, including character education. Parents have a dual role to play in raising a self-aware, respectful child who knows how to manage his or her emotions, make responsible decisions, and resolve conflicts nonviolently.

AERIES Emergency Info Needed.

We still have several families who have not completed an updated emergency contact form. This information is very important and is used to contact parents if there is an emergency. If you have not completed this form, please do so and return it to our front office ASAP

AERIES EMERGENCY FORM (PDF)

**Attention All Parents**

Below you will find a link to our electronic parent website (AERIES). This database contains critical information about each DCS student and each student’s emergency contact information. This portion MUST BE FILLED OUT BY YOU. All data will be used to contact you in the event of an emergency. It is very important that you take the time to ensure we have all necessary information.

Use the following link https://tracylearningcenter.aeries.net/student and login in with the email and password you created when registering your student at the beginning of the school year. From there, navigate to the DATA CONFIRMATION PROCESS link. Once you enter the information, THE LAST STEP IS TO PRINT THE EMERGENCY CARD and turn it into the front office or to your child’s teacher.

If you believe you have already completed this process OR you need help completing this process please call 209-290-0511. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Millennium High School

Next week the 3D Printing Club will be having its week of fundraising. We have many ways for you to support the club’s goal of buying a 4K 3D Resin Printer for the school. We are going to be selling the Candy Grams, Three different sizes of Marvel/Star Wars character Busts, and these two raffles.

The raffle items are one large bust of our most popular model…Deadpool! For a $2.00 ticket, you could have a chance to win this high-demand statute! The other raffle is for my very first 3D printed dragon I personally hand painted 2 years ago. The raffle tickets are $2.00 a piece or 15 tickets for $20.00. (see the attached image/file for a photo of each item)

Thank you for supporting our club and let me know if you have any questions about how you can purchase busts, tickets, or candy grams!

The 3d Printing and Painting club will be hosting its first 3D Printing Store/Fundraiser. This month’s theme for printing was Marvel/Star Wars Gold, Bronze and Copper busts. (Please see the attached files for photos of the busts) If you are interested in purchasing a model, please feel free to stop by my classroom (M202) anytime next week or before and after school at our 3D Printing FundRaising Table. The busts come in three different sizes and prices: Large – $20.00, Medium – $15.00, and Small – $10.00. Multiple model discounts can be negotiated. Thank you for looking and thank you for supporting the 3D Printing and Painting club!

Click on the link to learn more on this topic!

If you have any questions on this topic or would like to know more please feel free to reach out to the Special Education Department.

LUNCH: Ordering lunch is slightly different this year. All students should have a lunch account to pay for lunches. To register, go to https://www.mymealtime.com/ and create an account. You must choose/type in your specific school (Millennium High School) and you will need your student school I.D. number. If you have any difficulties creating an account online, money can still be added to your account by either cash, check, or debit card. You can drop off payment in the lunch dropbox that is located in the main office. We are still in the process of adding new students to our mealtime system and hope to have it completed next week.

Lunch is ordered the day before it is delivered to class. All students should order their lunch during 4th period/HUB time. The Google Classroom code is SEUNSOU. Applications for Free & Reduced meals must be completed and turned in every year. You can apply on the school’s website.
