News, Information, and Updates for Primary, Discovery, and Millennium Charter Schools

A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods

Did you know Primary, Discovery, and Millennium all have School Improvement Committees and hold meetings once a month? The SIC meetings take place the last week of each month and are led by the school leaders. During the meetings, the leaders go over the goals for each school, as stated in the school’s action plan. They discuss the progress made toward the goal, present data, and ask for feedback from the committee members. Each committee is made up of staff members, board members, parents, and students (MHS only). Join us if you can!

SPED SPOTLIGHT:

Planning for life after high school can bring mixed emotions. Parents and students may feel excited, but worried at the same time. For students with disabilities the decisions that need to be made can be especially difficult. The best way to tackle these decisions is to inform yourselves of your rights and possible supports early on in the process. Students who were previously on a 504 plan or an IEP have protections after high school both in educational settings and in the workplace.

Check out this informational website about educational opportunities after high school:

The California Career Center has also compiled several resources for students after high school:

A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods

Dear parents, families, and guardians,

With most COVID-related restrictions being lifted, we are now able to prepare to welcome back visitors and volunteers to campus! Our EL team is bringing back the Parent Cafe this month. Parents will gather on campus in the EL room to learn about tips on helping their students succeed in school. Scroll down for more information, including the date and time. The Parent Cafe is open to all parents.

We are in the process of implementing a new system for parent volunteers. All volunteers will be required to complete a new application, provide a current TB test, and complete a Live Scan. If you anticipate becoming a volunteer on a future field trip, volunteering in a classroom, or as a driver for an athletic event and would like to begin the process, you may ask the front office for an application.

We hope you are as anxious to return to on-campus events as we are to welcome you back!

NEXT STEPS: Summer 2022 Delta College Early Start

Students who have applied to Delta College and received their Delta ID number can proceed to the next steps! 1. Complete the MHS Grade Check Google Form – due for ALL students on 3/16 at 11:59pm. (https://forms.gle/bPvuhjwqxzhXtCJ77) *If you have submitted a Dual Enrollment Form in the past, the MHS Grade Check Google Form is all you have to submit in order to take summer college classes.*

PLEASE NOTE: All Delta College classes will be online in Summer 2022. These courses will require a high level of independence, as the courses are accelerated (only 6-8 weeks long) and asynchronous, meaning that there are no required Zoom class meetings with your instructor. Students will have to manage themselves to meet deadlines – completing readings, assignments, projects and tests, and reach out to their instructor and/or Delta College staff for help when needed. Online summer college classes require a lot of responsibility and determination. Here are our recommended classes for this semester: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1LlFxGJQMg1_wYAVtc1QsHvLgEdgydGMbeUN3-26-CvM/edit?usp=sharing

SPED SPOTLIGHT:

This week we want to put a spotlight on SLD also known as Specific Learning Disability.

According to the National Center for Education Statistics, in the 2019-2020 school year, 7.3 million students (14 percent of total public school enrollment) ages 3-21 received special education services. 33% of all students who received special education services were identified as having a SLD.

NEXT STEPS: Summer 2022 Delta College Early Start

Students who have applied to Delta College and received their Delta ID number can proceed to the next steps! See the attached video (https://youtu.be/VcZQKSauzMA) and associated slides (https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1aNoGZkEpoLDPYVDH2kW07B4yQZICRu1pWUNUxQ11SF4/edit?usp=sharing) for guidance on how to…

2. Complete the Dual Enrollment FormONLY IF you are taking our Summer 2022 Dual Enrollment class, ENG 30 The Film as Literature, as your first class ever AND/OR your first Dual Enrollment class ever. Due 3/16 at 11:59pm along with the MHS Grade Check Google Form. (https://na3.docusign.net/Member/PowerFormSigning.aspx?PowerFormId=eb278dc9-8e42-43ed-81ef-bd8fe475a95e&env=na3&acct=2646a927-3855-4426-8e4f-f7d8ad93aa54&v=2)

If your student missed a step or needs help, please see our website https://millenniumcounseling.weebly.com/college-early-start.html and feel free to email MHS Counselor Ms. Moore at LMoore@tracylc.net.

Go to http://yearbookordercenter.com and enter code 21362 to purchase a yearbook or see options for senior dedications. Use code LASTCHANCE to save $5 on the book, and LASTCHANCEAD to save $10 off our senior dedications.

Questions? Email Miss Lamanna, blamanna@tracylc.net.

LUNCH: Ordering lunch is slightly different this year. All students should have a lunch account to pay for lunches. To register, go to https://www.mymealtime.com/ and create an account. You must choose/type in your specific school (Millennium High School) and you will need your student school I.D. number. If you have any difficulties creating an account online, money can still be added to your account by either cash, check, or debit card. You can drop off payment in the lunch dropbox that is located in the main office. We are still in the process of adding new students to our mealtime system and hope to have it completed next week.

Lunch is ordered the day before it is delivered to class. All students should order their lunch during 4th period/HUB time. The Google Classroom code is SEUNSOU. Applications for Free & Reduced meals must be completed and turned in every year. You can apply on the school’s website.

CA Public School Mask Update – March 1st 2022

March 1, 2022

Re: Mask Update

TLC Families,

Yesterday, Governor Newsom announced an update to the masking guidance for K-12 schools in California.  Beginning at 11:59 PM on March 11, 2022, California will move from mask requirements to mask recommendations in schools.  This means that after 11:59 PM on March 11, 2022, students and staff members (regardless of vaccination status) in K-12 school settings will be strongly recommended, not required, to wear masks while indoors.  The Tracy Learning Center schools will comply with the new masking guidance, as we have with all other guidelines and mandates regarding COVID-19 thus far.

Please note that this change does not take effect until after 11:59 PM on March 11, 2022, effectively Saturday, March 12.  Masking is still required by all while indoors on school grounds until that date.

If you have any questions, please contact the office at 209-290-0511.

Sincerely,

Carolyn Woods

CEO, Tracy Learning Center

Re: Actualización de cubreboca

familias TLC,

Atentamente,

carolyn maderas
