News, Information, and Updates for Primary, Discovery, and Millennium Charter Schools
A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods
Hello! Primary had two outstanding performances this week that I would like to highlight. The first was the spring concert. Mr. Martin, our Primary music teacher did an amazing job teaching music this year despite all of the COVID-19 precautions that were in place at the beginning of the year! He still managed to teach the students all about rhythm, pitch, keeping a beat, and memorizing lyrics and all of it was on display during the performances. Thank you to all parents who attended the concert, it was a great turn-out! And congratulations, students, for doing such a wonderful job 🙂
The other event that took place this week was Senora Wharton’s Spanish Bee! Senora Wharton is our Primary Spanish elective teacher. She organized a Spanish spelling bee for our first through fourth grade students. It was a great way to showcase our Spanish language program. Students took their role as spelling bee contestants very seriously! It was quite impressive to see. Great job, students and Senora!!!
We look forward to wrapping this year up in the next couple of weeks. The DCS awards ceremony is coming up along with other fun end of the year activities.

During the last week of school (June 20-24) Monday-Thursday,PCS pick up times/carline will be from 2:50-3:30. This is to accommodate the early release of DCS that week. Please make sure your child is picked up by 3:30 those days. Friday dismissal will be at 11:00.
Thank you to everyone who attended our concerts this week. Our students were amazing and were so proud to show off their talent! Mr. Martin did a great job organizing the event and we are so fortunate to have such a successful elective program at PCS.
We also held our Spanish spelling bee for our 1st-4th graders this week. Thank you to Senora Wharton for working so hard with our students this year, including having them not just speak Spanish, but also read and spell in Spanish!
This Friday at Unity we had our first staff vs. students dodgeball game! After a hard battle the P6 4th graders beat the teachers. The teachers will get another chance next week when they play P7. Stay tuned!

Millennium High School
ATHLETICS
I introduced myself last week as the new Millennium High Athletic Director, but maybe I should tell you a little bit more about myself.
My name is Drew Reyes, and I have worked at Millennium High School since 2005! I have been an English teacher and baseball coach for every single one of my years at TLC. I have also been fortunate enough to work for every single one of the previous Athletic Directors, and that invaluable experience will serve me well in this new position. I attended St. Mary’s High School and the University of the Pacific and received my teaching credential from the SJCOE Teachers College. I will continue to coach baseball next Spring, which will be my 13th year as head coach. My daughter Hannah graduated from Millennium in 2021 and is attending Cal Poly, my son will be a Junior and my nephew will be a freshman at MHS next fall. I am looking forward to this new challenge, and I want to accomplish a number of things as Millennium’s new Athletic Director, including improving facilities and school culture, while also continuing to build upon the outstanding work that Coach Balsamo has done as my predecessor.
The Varsity Volleyball Position has been filled!!! Our new Varsity Volleyball Coach is Marilou Treltas. She is excited to be joining the Millennium Coaching Staff! There is a meeting for all girls who are interested in joining the volleyball program on TUESDAY June 7th at 2pm. She is also going to coach our Boys Varsity Volleyball Team next Spring. We are very excited to have her on board!

In other sports news, Girls and Boys Basketball are having some summer open gyms – Contact your coaches and check remind for more details – if you email me – areyes@tracylc.net – I can tell you how to connect with Coach Joe Reyes, our girls Varsity Basketball Coach, and Coach KV, our Varsity Girls Associate Head Coach. Her email is kvigil@tracylc.net – The Girls just played their first summer league games at Modesto Junior College on Thursday night – Coach Reyes is excited about the enthusiasm they displayed, and their potential for improvement – he even told me that the MJC Girls Coach was very interested in a couple of girls that he saw play out there – Keep up the good work Ladies!
Did you know that we will have a brand new Cross Country Coach? Coach Mike Copass has taken the whistle and clipboard from Coach Sheree Parker, who will be busy watching her son Jadyn playing football at UCLA this fall. Coach Copass is ready to lead our extremely successful Cross Country program this fall. Interested in getting in the best shape of your life? Want to make friends and learn from the smartest man in the city of Tracy? Email Coach Copass at mcopass@tracylc.net for more information.
The BEST WAY to start getting involved in MHS Athletics is to go to our website – https://mhsfalcons.com You will find a ton of information there, and I will be working to update the website over the next few weeks. The next best way is to join the REMIND of the team that you are interested in joining – Here are a couple to get you started. MHS
FOOTBALL – @lfsk2014 – Head Coach – Jamani Woods
MHS BASEBALL – @falconsmhs – Head Coach – Drew Reyes
Each team will have their own REMIND account – I will share more each week, so stay tuned – I recommend that you only join teams that you are directly connected with or you may get A LOT of messages!
REMIND is the communication app that the Millennium High School Athletic Program uses. All coaches use it to communicate to players and parents. You can download the free app, or you can text the codes above to the number 81010 – every time a message is sent, you will get a text message.
FAST TRACK 2022 – Monday, May 23rd to Friday, June 24th
FAST TRACK is a MANDATORY program for all high school students which gives them the opportunity to take ten credits of a course to remediate or accelerate, and/or to take a college course. During FAST TRACK, students take a full year (two semesters) of a course for 4.5 hours a day (including a fifteen-minute break) for five weeks beginning Monday, May 23rd to Friday, June 24th. The day begins at 8:30AM and ends at 1:00 PM.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance during FAST TRACK is different from the school year in that students are only allowed to miss 8 hours of time during the entire FAST TRACK. Tardies count as one hour and a day is four hours. Any combination above 8 hours results in a need to withdraw and an F grade for the affected semester. There are no excused absences during FAST TRACK. This is necessary in order to meet the state requirement for issuing credit for a year’s worth of a course. Students may not miss more than two days (8 total hours). Four tardies are the equivalent of one day of school, therefore; two days absent and one tardy will result in a failing grade.
Letters have been mailed home including additional details as well as your child’s FAST TRACK class.
