A Message from our CEO, Carolyn Woods
ATTENTION 8th GRADE STUDENTS and FAMILIES!!!
It is open enrollment time for Millennium High School! Applications are now available online at www.tracylc.net.
IMPORTANT– current Discovery 8th graders are not automatically accepted to Millennium, you must apply.
Why choose Millennium? Here are a few testimonials from some of our past and current MHS students:
Some of the highlights of this school are the variety of sports, extracurricular activities, mandatory internships for seniors, and different learning paths! As a student, the fact that MHS has different learning paths for students that are advanced or students who are falling behind is very helpful. MHS is very different from other school districts because there are more opportunities here.
The highlights and benefits that separate MHS from other schools is planning for the future. MHS keeps you on track to graduate and move further into college which other schools don’t do as well. Another benefit of MHS is the cleaner and safer environment that other schools do not have. A benefit is that you get to experience an internship so when you get a real job it’s not all new. The teachers are also more engaged with the students since the student count is lower, so the students can communicate with the teachers more efficiently.
I came to MHS because I used to have friends that went here. They were always preaching about MHS and the education here. When I came, I realized how different the MHS teaching style was compared to Kimball. While you have to go the extra mile by getting 200 community service hours and doing college prep classes, you gain more experience and are getting prepared for life after high school. You can also take college classes for free, if you pass, you can get a boosted GPA and more credits. I also like the athletics program. Although the amount of teams available is small, there is a more hands-on and one on one coaching style. With a smaller team, new players can understand and learn the game better because there are not as many people.
My parents wanted me to come to MHS. They thought that it would be a good opportunity for me. I didn’t want to come here at first but after being here for a couple of months I have changed my mind. There are many benefits that you can get here at MHS. This school offers the senior internship, which looks good on a college application and gives you working experience. They also pay for your college classes which can benefit you when you actually go into college. They also have Fast Track which allows you to either retake a class or move up another one. These are just some benefits and that’s why I like going here because it will help me get ahead and the teachers actually care if you are doing good or not.
MHS brings the best in education, where else can you find a school that will pay for your first two years in college or makes you take on an internship. Along with that we are very hands-on so we understand what we are learning. Finally, with small class sizes, teachers can feel more connected with us and it is easier to ask for help. With all of that, we stand out from all the other schools even from other cities.
Go online and apply now!
Thank you,
Mrs. Woods

ATTENTION PCS FAMILIES!!!
We are using a new pledging system through an online company called Pledgestar for the Jog-A-Thon this year, which takes place on November 10th. Your child/children should have brought home an orange flyer with all the information needed to register them and add potential donors to their account. The process to register is quick and makes it easy to reach out to friends and family. Please know that in order for your child to receive donations/pledges you must register for an account and add them as a jogger. If you have children in both PCS and DCS, you must register for both schools separately. If you did not receive the flyer click HERE to view it. If you have any questions please email Coach Knaus at gknaus@tracylc.net. Pledgestar donations will be accepted through December 2, 2022.
PCS Celebrates Diwali!
This week PCS staff celebrated Diwali. Students enjoyed learning all about Diwali and the staff enjoyed some Indian cuisine! It was a fantastic experience for all!

Special Education
Some people will do anything to avoid driving if their last experience was a disaster. Others will avoid certain social gatherings because they never have anything to say. Others will not apply for a promotion because they just know they’ll never get selected. Our past experiences influence our behavior, and when those experiences have been consistently negative, we can adopt what has been described as learned helplessness.
Learned helplessness is a condition with which a person suffers from a sense of powerlessness, feeling as though they will fail before they even try. Unfortunately, this behavior is quite common in childhood. Signs of learned helplessness manifest in various ways.

IMPORTANT
As required by California law (Health and Safety Code 120325 – 120375), parents need to provide proof of a Tdap vaccine (pertussis – Whooping Cough Booster) for all students entering the 7th grade. Documentation must state the shot was given on or after their 7th birthday. This means ALL current 7th graders must get up to date NOW.
It is important that you begin now, to ensure your child gets his/her required vaccination prior to school re-opening on August 1, 2022. We suggest you call and arrange this vaccine appointment asap.
Getting them up to date now, will not only protect them against Pertussis but also ensure class placement and prevent exclusion from school once students return to campus.
Remember to ask your physician about other vaccines your child may need, and bring your child’s yellow immunization card to the visit. Please return a copy of ALL up-to-date immunizations to school prior to the beginning of the next year school year.
For questions, please call your primary physician today or call the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Program, at (209) 468-3481.
Students will not be allowed to attend campus classes without his/her completion of all school-required vaccines/immunizations.

Athletic Director Corner
The Fall Season for Millennium Athletics is coming to a close and I wanted to take this opportunity to highlight some of our accomplishments!
First up, we were able to field THREE Volleyball teams this fall for the second time in school history! When you want to build a program, it starts with having healthy participation numbers! The girls improved throughout the year, and that is the true measure of success, not wins and losses.
Football has their final home game this Friday at Tracy High. It will be an action packed Friday night, with the PCS Mini-Cheer Camp Falcons and our very own, award-winning Millennium Band performing at halftime! In addition, the debut of the Millennium Trebuchet from Mr. Copass and our Physics Department will make its first t-shirt launch between the first and second quarter!
Senior night festivities will begin at 630pm – our Football and Cross Country Seniors will be honored on the field with their parents before the game.
Our football program has found plenty of playing time for our young players, and they will be back next year to continue to improve. I say it time and time again, but no sport is as physically and mentally challenging as football. We are looking forward to an off season of weight training and 7 on 7 this Summer to prepare us for next year!
All teams have a great chance at finishing in the top 5 this year – and there are over 130 schools in the Sac-Joaquin Section! Remember, these are STUDENT-ATHLETES, and we love it that our students achieve in the classroom and on the athletic fields!
After the first quarter grading period ended, unfortunately, some athletes had to be removed from teams. In High School, all student athletes must maintain a 2.0 GPA and no F’s to remain or join their teams. This year, we lost 4 student athletes to grades, which is the least we have ever lost! Three students improved their grades and were able to join their teams as well. So this Fall, our Athletic Department endured a net loss of just one student athlete!
As the Fall season ends, the Winter season is beginning! Conditioning for our Soccer and Basketball teams are in full swing! Mandatory practice and tryouts will begin on November 1st. Athletes who are still on a fall team will be able to join their winter sports team once their season ends. Remember, all athletes must be registered on AthleticClearance.com and have a current sports physical before they participate in any school athletic conditioning, practice or game.
Other sports have begun to prepare for their seasons as well. Baseball and Track and Field will start weight training in November. If you are interested in joining, please contact me or your coaches for more details.
