This year seems to be just flying by. As we begin to prepare for next year, we would like to remind our current 6th-grade parents that all incoming seventh-graders must be up to date with his/her required immunizations.

As required by California law, (Health and Safety Code 120325 – 120375), parents need to provide proof of receiving the Tdap vaccine (Pertussis – Whooping Cough Booster).

All students entering 7th – 12th grades must have proof of a Tdap booster shot. Documentation must state the shot was given on or after their 7th birthday. This means ALL current 6th graders must get up to date.

It is important that you begin now, to ensure your child get their vaccination and to avoid appointment delays.

Receiving the immunizations and ensuring they are up to date now, will not only protect them against Pertussis, but also ensure class placement and prevent exclusion from school in the coming year.  No students will be allowed to attend school next year without up to date immunizations.

Remember to ask your physician about other vaccines your child may need, and bring your child’s yellow immunization card to the visit. Please return a copy of ALL up to date immunizations to Kay Fagundes in the school office before May 19, 2023.

For questions, please call your primary physician today or call the San Joaquin County Public Health Services Program, at (209) 468-3481.

Again, no students will be allowed to attend school next year, without up-to-date immunizations. We are requesting TDaP proof to be brought to the office by May 19, 2023.

Special Education

We often place demands on our kids without realizing they are unrealistic. The good news is that parents are taking time to explore what their children need.

Instead of scheduling every minute of our kid’s day, we’re leaving room for open-ended play. We recognize the benefit of allowing our children to explore, ask questions, problem-solve, and remain curious. Kids need space to be kids. Rigid schedules and step-by-step directions do not give kids the room to thrive and grow.

Good Evening TLC Families

We are writing to keep you informed of a false statement that was made by a PCS student.

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, a PCS student told classmates that, “someone was going to shoot upstairs at DCS.”  This statement was quickly investigated by the administration and determined to be unsubstantiated.

We understand situations such as this are concerning to parents, students, staff, and the greater community. We want you to be aware that the administration of Primary Charter School has exercised extreme diligence and taken all proper actions in the best interests of our students and our faculty.

Primary Charter School maintains strict policies designed to protect the safety and well-being of our students. All disciplinary policies have been followed in this matter.

We have addressed our students, faculty, and staff about this matter in order to provide as much information as possible and to address the concerns that they have.

We think is important to keep the lines of communication open and ensure all our TLC families stay informed.

Special Education

Separation anxiety, or difficulty being away from a parent or caregiver, is a normal developmental stage that tends to be most common around 8 to 24 months. However, children can experience anxiety or distress related to separation from a parent or caregiver at any point throughout childhood (and even into adulthood). Yet even when they know that separation anxiety is normal and may even signal that your child has a healthy bond with you, most parents would like to find a way to make separation less painful for their children and for themselves.

Check out the following link for tips for preventing and addressing separation anxiety:
