It is with great pleasure that I can announce that the Tracy Learning Center and the Tracy Unified Board met Wednesday evening to review the plans for upgrading our facility. With funds given to the charter from the state, and the district bond money, we will have an incredible new campus that will begin being constructed in 2017. Everyone at the meeting was overjoyed with the plan and the prospect of new facilities for our students. This project will include a full sized gym. The construction and final phase should be completed by 2020. We will keep you posted as decisions are made and the planning moves forward.
It is our hope that when this project is completed we can have enough funds to build our own football/soccer field to complete the project. All donations will be earmarked to help us with the field of our dreams from now until 2020. Let’s see what we can do.

Crab Feed

What an awesome event for our school! Crab, pasta, salad, bread, dessert, raffles, dancing and so much more.
This event is totally dependent on our raffle committee. Our volunteers that served on the raffle committee have children that graduated.
I am diligently searching for volunteers who can step in to this amazing committee and make our event successful.

By law, most people are now required to have health insurance or pay a penalty when they file their taxes. The open-enrollment period to enroll in Covered California health insurance plans happens once a year. Insufficient/returned Checks
We are going to increase the “returned” check fee due to the high number of returned checks lately. This fee will go from $12 to $25.

It has been a whirlwind week with the many events that have taken place in TK! We went on our first field trip to G&M Farms and the students, staff, and parents had a blast! We are very proud of how well-behaved and courteous our students were on the trip. They received compliments from the bus driver and the tour guides at the farm. We are so excited to see them exhibiting our SWOs in the classroom and in the ‘real world’! Last week the students began working on the Positive Cooperator SWO. They are focusing on working together, helping others, and being patient.
Primary Charter
What a fun, busy week! The teachers were amazed at all of the spirit the kids had and still remained focused for learning. Our Halloween parade was another huge success and the students had a great time…thank you to DCS and DHSP for letting us trick or treat in their classrooms!

This week in Initial Phase, our first Spirit Week was soooooo much fun! In addition, our Millenium High School ASL class came and taught us how to sign some words! Each Millenium ASL student worked on a book for us and signed it to us. P-6 students were captivated by this new language and many learned to sign color and animal words to match the book! Finally, P-6 students also learned about the American and State flags, The Statue of Liberty, the Bald Eagle, and many other U.S.A symbols. Ask your student all about their week!
This week in Phase 1 during Writer’s Workshop we continued our “How to Writing” – How to Carve a Pumpkin. We even created our very own Jack O’ Lantern! Please remember to work on the Science Project – Animals and their Habitats. They are due Monday, November 9th. The teachers are anxiously waiting to see how creative the students can be. Remember also to be able to explain what characteristics the animal you chose has to be able to live in its environment. Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up soon. Please look for information to come home next week in Red Folders.
Phase 2 students are wrapping up our life science unit and we’re looking forward to our field trip to the San Francisco Zoo on Thursday. Please make sure your child is on time to school that day! Also, please make sure they bring a disposable, bagged lunch with their name on it. Comfortable walking shoes and a sweatshirt are highly recommended. Please note that the suggested $30.00 for chaperones was due today but we will accept donations up until the day of the field trip. Thank you! Parent teacher conference sign ups have been sent home and phase 2 teachers will send home conference confirmations next week.
Discovery Charter
SWO – Personal awareness scrapbook rubrics were distributed in class are available digitally from Ms. Pelaez’s website by clicking “more” c“SWO Scrapbook.” There you will find the rubric and great examples, along with all of the information you will need to create the scrapbook. This portion is due Friday 11/6, if turned in by Wednesday 11/4, students will earn an extra point.
Science Olympiad: Thank you Coaches and Participants! This year’s Science Olympiad is going to be AWESOME!!! Please be sure to read your Science Olympiad Calendar. It is your responsibility to attend meetings as assigned. If you have any questions??? email Ms. Pelaez: lpelaez@tracylc.net.
CONFERNCES – Teacher-Parent-Student conferences will be held the week of 11/16. Next week, your child will bring home a “save the date” invitation informing you of the day/time/place of your conference. Conferences will be held in the gym until 4:00; any conferences after 4:00 will be held in the teacher’s classroom or other location. This information will be on the “save the date” invitation. We are looking forward to reviewing your child’s progress and sharing the wonderful learning opportunities that take place in DCS.
SPELLING BEE: Our TLC first annual Spelling Bee competition is coming soon! On Thursday, November 13, Spelling Bee participants will be part of a verbal spelling challenge. One student from grades 4-6 will be invited to the county Spelling Bee, and one student from grades 7-9 will be invited as well. DCS Glow in the Dark Dance: WAS AMAZING!!!! The music was loud, dancing was fabulous, and students had a great time using their glow-in-the-dark sticks. New friendships were formed as students took time to get to know one another outside of their classroom setting. Thank you Ms. T and the Leadership team for putting on such a great event. Students were already asking, “Will there be another dance soon?”

The weeks seem to just fly by. Malayan Den brought in the most donations for the McHenry House and have earned themselves a Menchie’s reward.

Veterans’ Day is November 11th. There will be no school that day.
Parent Conferences are quickly approaching. DHSP will be having evening conferences on Tuesday, November 17 from 4:15 – 6:15, and 6:45 – 8:00.

California State University Monterey Bay Filed Trip for 10th – 11th grade students only.
Millennium High School students’ grades 10th – 11th will be visiting California State University Monterey Bay on Thursday, November 19th from 6:45am to 4:30pm. Students will be eating lunch at CSUMB. Any student attending the trip will need to bring a sack lunch or money for lunch in the dining hall. The cost of this field trip is $27.00
College Early Start
College Early Start Program – Spring Enrollment for Delta
Parents of students who are interested in taking classes at Delta College for the Spring 2016 semester need to carefully read the important steps listed on the website at http://millenniumhscounseling.weebly.com/college-early-start.html. Please remember that students participating in the College Early Start program must follow dates and deadlines and receive prior approval to take college classes while attending high school. TLC provides reimbursement for tuition for those who have prior approval to take specific classes with proof of payment and a successful course completion with a grade of “C” or better. Textbooks and additional fees are not reimbursable.
