We are getting ready for the move to our new school.  It is lovely and very exciting but we will need your cooperation to be successful.

I am setting two half days to help us get organized in the new rooms.

Primary will have an early release day on Friday, February 23.  They will be dismissed at 11:30.  Lunch will NOT be served. There will be no child care (Kid’s Club) available that day.  Students can NOT go to P6 to wait for their siblings. All children must be picked up at 11:30am.

Discovery will have an early release day on Wednesday, February 28.  They will be dismissed at 11:00.  There will be no study club or after school care (Kid’s Club) available that day.  All students must be picked up.

We are attempting to give you as much notice as possible although of course these dates are subject to change if there are any construction delays!

Also notice that car line will be changing once we move to the location on Mae Street and of course new things will require some patience and understanding, but we will be up and running well soon.  Please be kind and patient as we adjust.  It will be well worth it.

The kitchen is being remodeled in the next phase, so lunches will be different and easier to prepare.  This will mean we may have more pizza days or “bag lunch” days.  Again this will be for the next phase and then we will be back in full swing.  It will require your understanding and patience as well.

We have a super group of parents, students and staff and together we can make this move easy and wonderful if we all work together.

Sick Students

Just a reminder…please does not send your child to school until he/she has been 24 hours fever free. We continue to have kids tell us his/her parent gave them fever reducing medication that morning before school.

If your child is suffering  from fever, body aches,  sore throat and or  continues coughing he or she is most likely contagious and we really ask that you keep your sick children home for his/her recovery and to reduce the risk of spreading this illness.

T K

This week on TK island we had a blast celebrating our 100th day of school! The little fishes came dressed up as old people, including their extremely old teachers. They had a hundred-day snack, made hats, played bingo, did plenty of counting to 100. The little fishes brought mystery bags full of 100 items and gave clues to help us figure what was in the bag. They finished the day with a scavenger hunt of 100 items.  We had so much fun celebrating being 100 days smarter

Primary Charter

The Crab Feed is just around the corner!  This is TLC’s biggest fundraiser of the year and we appreciate all the support.  It is a great evening of fun and food so we hope to see you there.  Thank you for supporting TLC and our fabulous students

Initial Phase:

Did you know that reading is with children is extremely beneficial? Just spending a little time each day to have quiet reading time can help your child in so many areas. We encourage our families to read for twenty minutes each day. Reading before bed is a fun and easy way to incorporate daily reading time. Make it part of your bedtime routine- your child will look forward to that special time with you every night. It doesn’t matter who reads: your student can read to you or you can read to him/her or you can take turns reading. When children read with their parents it helps prepare them for formal literacy instruction, introduces vocabulary, builds important foundation skills, provides a model of fluent, expressive reading, and helps young children recognize what reading for pleasure is all about. Additionally, parental involvement in their child’s reading has been found to be the most important determinant of language and emergent literacy. Bottom line… try to make reading a part of everyday!
Phase 2:
Our 4th grade leadership students are still collecting donations for the military.  They are excited to mail them off next week.  Thank you to everyone who has donated.  Please remember that our phase 2 students eat lunch at 1:00 so they need a good breakfast and a filling snack.  Our students love the following snacks:  fruit, crackers, cheese, or granola/breakfast bars.  Thank you for your snack donations, our students appreciate it!

It has been another busy week.  Students are working on several different projects, especially for Social Studies and Geography.  Please continue to check agendas for important information and due dates.

The weather has been typical for this time of year.  If your child leaves a jacket or other item of clothing, please check our lost and found, located in the hallway near the office.

The Mother-Son dance is coming up on Saturday, February 17 at the Corral Hollow Campus from 6-9 pm.  Please have your student see their homeroom teacher for a flyer.

Monday, February 19th is an observed holiday for President’s Day.

We are very happy with the amount of recyclables we are receiving for our Water for Sudan Project.  A big thank you to everyone who has helped us with this important fundraiser- lets meet our goal by the end of the year!

Here are this week’s top Den Point earners.
